well they banned you pretty quick and will most likely remove all the items from your account. so I wouldn't really use this exploit since you will lose the items anyway.

I wasnt banned for taking items from the guildbank. I was banned because of a sexist comment in trade.

This does indeed work, but you do not even need an alt.
All you need to do is withdraw, logout, and login. I was able to withdraw an entire bank's worth of items by just taking them and relogging without ever touching an alt.

I also suspect it has to do with a discrepancy between your actual time and server time. This worked between 12-1 am server time, which was 2-3 local.
