Like someone already said they do this on purpose so that you can take whatever gear you want to be ready for ICC.

As people above have mentioned this isn't an exploit.
Also the idea of this "leaking back through" is silly as the purchasing of badges from vendors is connected with the vendor section of the WoW database, this data isn't imported back after a PTR at all, only the changed made to new content / updated content will be transfered back as a patch to the database.

This has nothing to do with code at all and is impossible to move over without blizzard
already knowing about it.

If you are looking for bugs in the PTR that may possibly make it back into the main build, look more at skills, loot drops connected to new bosses, pretty much everything about new bosses, and other features that the change log deals with. You may get lucky and a exploit you find on ptr regarding a skill or boss holds over to live.

Personally my interest for PTR bugs making it to live rests with the new "random dungeon" system and the loot bags which will be made available to lower level characters. These almost certainly won't be fully tested as most players will be moving around with level 80s and ignoring anything other than end game content.

Ya, it was in BC. PvP was free. It was fixed the next day and most of it was taken back.
