I'd really like to see some proof of this, and until I see it I would definitely call this bogus. As Parog says, your "paid" playtime is in no way estimated from, or related to, the actual time played.

Buy the Original WoW and just level all classes to 60? Easy! I did 1-60 in 1day and 3hours played including echanting to 300. You can with easily level 3-4 classes to 60 before the 40days play time from Trial and Wow expire.

On topic, in my eyes this would only be usefull for having a "heartstone" to diferent places other than that I see no use of this.
