Is this still working does anyone know?
If this still works then I love you so much!
Yes, it does work, been doing it all night.![]()
just a heads up- the XP you get from each mob is dependent on the % damage you did to the mob compared to your pet. tagging a mob isn't enough to get full XP.
Hey guys, I know I've been a member for a while, and this is my very first post. For that, I sincerely apologize. I would like to say I've learned quite a bit about the community, and quite a bit about exploits, and scams, where most my interest has been. Finally, I would like to start contributing.
Please don't flame me, as I really do feel like I can learn a lot and give a lot within this community.
So now that I've got that out of the way, I would to say that this exploit is still working flawlessly. I grinded 1.5 levels yesterday just listening to music as an unholy DK without any problems.
I have a few tips for those still interested.
AOE Grinding as a DeathKnight
First off, as far as I know, you can endlessly grind the mobs without having to eat/drink if you're a ret paladin, or a DK. I haven't tried with other classes but I know for a fact this is doable with the above two.
I was averaging about 70k every ten minutes.
As my for my rotation specifcally, as an unholy DK, I find it works best to use your Frost Aura so you can take damage, even though you won't be putting out as much. It's also good to have your ghoul out on defensive for the added DPS.
What I like to do is 3 mobs at a time, which constantly respawn, sometimes you can even get four. Open with Icy Touch, and Plaguestrike. Immediately use pestilence and now, all your Dots will be on the targets. It's a good idea to use unholy blight whenever you have the available runic power.
Try to get as much AP as you can by using horn of winter, and a paladin's might buff. What you need to focus on after the above rotation is using two main abilities.
The first, Death strike. Use this move everytime you can to keep your health up. I find with 3 mobs dotted, if I'm lucky I can hit and heal myself for 3.5k crits. You will never need to stop if you keep your health up using this. If you find yourself falling low, use Icebound fortitude and try to continue death striking to get your health back.
The next move, blood boil. When you have 2200 AP, which is what I average with buffs, this can easily crit for over 1k when you have dots on mobs. This will easily bring them down fast.
Another thing, when one mob dies and another spawns, you don't have to always repeat the icy touch, plague strike combination. It's often easier to switch to a target who already has dots, and simply use pestilence again. This will allow you to keep death striking. If things get desperate, remember, you can blood tap to get a death rune (in order to death strike again), sacrifice your ghoul for 20 percent health, use Icebound Fortitude to negate a ton of damage, and use Bone Shield if you absolutely need to.
So to recap, a few key points on how to endlessly aoe farm these mobs without having to stop.
1) Open up with your dots. Icy Touch, and Plaguestrike.
2) Spread them to the other two mobs using Pestilence.
3) Deathstrike, then Bloodboil.
4) Unholy Blight, keep it up at all times along with Horn of Winter.
5) Use your ghoul for his added dps, ability to sacrifice him for health, and that you'll easily be able to respawn another one if he dies.
Last thing I would like to say, is I wouldn't reccommend using any other moves such as Scourge Strike, Corpse Explosion, Gargoyle, etc. Unless you have some great tanking gear and can still keep up at least 1800 AP, it's not worth using the runes to that you cannot Death Strike.
If you're constantly Death Striking, you will easily be able to keep your health maxed out. Just remember the key points.
I was able to go for 8 hours straight last night without stopping for food or anything until I finally got tired.
As for spec, I won't post anything specific, but personally, I put 61 points into Unholy, shouldn't be hard to choose which talents. You want to max your AOE damage.
I put two points into improved icy touch to extend the duration, and make it hit harder.
Anything after that is completely up to you.
I hope this helps if you're a DeathKnight.
Here's the next piece of information I would like to add, more specific to the encounter.
When you finally get to the end of the quest chain (Betrayal), you will be able to port up here as much as you'd like. However, each time you do, you will have to repeat the boss fight.
The fight itself isn't hard, you just need to pay a bit of attention. As soon as you spawn up top with the troll boss, immediately use your sceptor to take control of the giant mutated trolls.
The strategy itself is simple.
You have 3 moves. You want to let the troll fight for you. Don't try and go within melee range or the boss will agro you, and he hits very hard.
The three movies involve one that hits decently hard, a six second stun, and a healing over time effect that you can cast on yourself.
This fight is definitely soloable, however, you may need to resummon a mutated troll after your first one dies.
What you need to do is be constantly moving. The boss will throw crystals at you inbetween fighting your troll, that do damage on inpact, as well as leave a nasty DOT if you stand in the bubbling AOE. I mean NASTY dot. This is way you have to be constantly moving to dodge the crystals, and paying attention to make sure youre not in the aoe. You need to stay on the platform, far enough away so the boss isn't agroing you, but close enough so that you're not off to the sides agroing the ghouls. If you go down off the platform, you will get a debuff that does damage over time. You need to stay on top of your game.
The fight itself is just a matter of spamming your 3 abilities on your troll. If you have ranged attacks, you can also kill the boss from a distance, but melee, just stay back. Just constantly spam the three moves your troll is given, band aid if you need too, and watch for the crystals.
IF your troll dies before the boss is dead, you will need to be ready to summon another one. Watch your trolls health and this won't be a problem. If your troll dies, the boss will be spamming you with shadowbolts that hit for about 1200. If you have any type of defensive spell to negate the magic damage (anti magic shield), that's when you need to use it.
After the boss dies, the Lich King himself will arrive. I won't spoil it but it's a great scene.
So you're probably wondering, why am I posting this when you could just as easily find this information out on thottbot?
Because I play on a pvp server and in order to grind successfully using this exploit, you need to be prepared.
When you're AOE grinding the mobs, glance at your chat log every now and then. I'm always listening to music while I do this so I can't always hear when the troll boss is being summoned.
If the troll boss is up, and it's someone of your faction, feel free to just MC a mutated troll and help them out. EVERYONE can loot the boss for the quest regardless of who tapped it first.
On the other hand, if it's an opposite faction, as soon as you see the troll up, quickly mind control one of your own, use him to kill the player. You won't be able to use the 3 specials, but his auto attacks will hit the player for about 3.5k each. Most people go up there not really knowing what to do, you can easily stun the person who's trying to get a troll of his own,a nd rob him of it, then use it against him
Like I said, me and my paladin friend grinded up there for about 8 hours last night.
Not a single horde player was able to finish the quest.
We play on a populated server too...There was a 79 paladin who made about 8 attempts than just gave up.
If you can control the upper area with a friend, you will not have to worry about other players ruining your grind session.
Hope this helps,
Thanks.
Well done on your first post!
As for presence and spec I do not fully agree. With blood presence I do 15% more damage and some of the damage I do heals me. Which means my death strike heals for 17% more, all attacks heals plus I do 15% more damage so the mobs die faster. I also made sure to keep the AoE up but use the single target skills (Death Strike mainly) on one guy at a time. So on every second mob I could use pestilence, hence I never had to use plague strike or icy touch except on the first mob (or if I messed up).
Nice find.
How do you get the boss to despawn? Impossible i would say, and if i kill the boss, tamed troll will dissapear
