I had the same thought. I also tried infecting vendors in hopes that I could still buy from them while Scourged. (Unfortunately, they become generic zombie NPCs.)

Now, I'm thinking a couple of possibilities:

- It seems likely/possible that Mind Control is broken again in patch 3.0 since that regularly happens. It might be worth testing this again.

- There might be some trick that can be pulled using a combination of MC and the Zombie infection.

Thoughts:

MC a mob right before you become a zombie.

Get MCed right before you become a zombie.

Use the Gnomish MC helmet as a zombie.

I have a feeling that SOME combination of faction buffs/debuffs will likely yield the desired result.
