Won't work, in all battlegrounds prior to the game starting everyones health is constantly being pushed back up to 100% hp and mana.

That won't work.

You get healed every tick to full HP while preparation buff is active.

Even if you stand there hellfiring for the full 2 min time it takes for a BG starts, you won't die because you keep getting healed up to full hp by the buff.

From what I read in the original post, it appears that you need to actually exit the game. Not just log out.

Can someone confirm?

If you log out you will just get the deserter buff, what you need to do is to use task manager to end the process. So find wow.exe in your process list and hit end process. This will make it seem like you disconnected, now when you log back in you should theoretically be outside the gates.
