4GB RAM probably isn't enough if it's running Windows. Honestly WoW emulators are pretty efficient compared to other game servers.

This old post has some analysis on bandwidth usage: Average monthly bandwidth usage for a WoW server

Do you really need to be able to handle 1k players? Are you actually going to have that many? Go with something small and cheap initially. You can migrate to something better later on if you find you need it.

    Hi,

no it isnt Windows, i got debian strech. For the start i need to handle someting about 500 players. I think 500 will be ok on this HW but i am not sure. Now the server got 1,33 GB used. No players just DB and World running.

More will need to be kept in memory when you start having more players online. The server doesn't load a lot of stuff into memory when no players are nearby. The same with processing - less active entities to process each update.

I think you will be fine. The MySQL server will start using a lot of memory or get slow with large player bases. Most servers I have seen with 1000+ players have dedicated servers for the database. I reiterate though that it is not worth upgrading for a potential player base, wait until you actually are approaching that.

4GB is enough for 50ish players (Tested myself).

If you are able to get more, try to upgrade to 16GB. CPU wise you should be ok for at least 350-400 players.
For 1k players, you will have to get more RAM and better CPU. Bandwidth wise (Monthly) you need at least 40GB.

Im agree with Knindza, best solution - 16GB.
