Multiple Realms, Multiple PC's

Situation:
2 Windows XP Pro PC's
2 Trinity core repacks.

Trying to host 1 realm and the authentication server on one PC and another realm from another repack on the other PC.
I can connect back and forth with SQL editors to each database. Using Heidi and MySQL Workbench with the same account that the worldserver uses.
Realmlist is showing both realms.

Error when I run the worldserver is:

Could not connect to MySQL database at 192.168.0.108: Access denied for user 'root'@'xp-wow2' (using password: YES)

These options are set right now just to get it working:
No firewalls
all default passwords
SQL set to accept connections from anyone

If you need anymore information than that let me know. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Essentially, your MySQL user is IP restricted. Probably to 127.0.0.1 only (which will be the computer it runs from).

Create a new user and put the IP address (host) as your internal IP address (192.168.x.x usually).

You could put % for all hosts, but then it becomes insecure.

That is part of the last entry there, it is set for root with % access.
I have also tried being specific and using a username other than root and of course the config files are changed to reflect it. (using hostname or internal ip as the access restriction)

but even with almost no security I still can't manage a connection.

If you are on a home network, check your router so it allows multicasting, also disable ipsec and the firewall on all pcs and the router.

So I tried all these things, didn't seem to help any. I forgot to mention before that these are VM's (ESXI 5.0) although I don't think that should make a difference.


Edit: Looks like I got this working. I ended up setting some dns/reverse dns settings on my server and that seems to have cleared up this error. Thank you two for your input.
