    Help to reduce ServerLag

    Hi evereyone

I am playing in a Server with version 3.3.2, we have almost 4000 persons evereyday but we only have one realm. We are using Linux and a dedicated server with enough conexion speed. and we are experimenting a terrible lag.

I need advices and help, que could higher the version to 3.3.5 or make a new realm to in order to lower the amount of people in each one.

We could also change the OS or apply any programming fix to the emulator.

    What should we do?

We also have a problem with bug gold. Because of the lag, it is possible to clone gold sending to another player and sending it back when there is too much lag

Sorry for my bad english, Thank you

The emulator will really stuggle with this many people. My advise would be to do one of the following:

    1) Implement clustering support, so that each map can be handled on a different machine. Kalimdor on one, Eastern Kingdoms on another, etc. To spread the load.
    2) Adding multiple realms, spread your players out over multiple realms and have each realm on a different machine so that resource usage is reduced.

There isn't a lot of public work or information on how to deal with servers with this many players, as most with this many players are privatised. You'll have to experiment and see what works best for you.

Depending on your server specs, clustering your server like stoneharry said is a wise idea. If you're low on budget though, you can enable virtualization on the dedicated server. Another thing: even Blizzard doesn't have that many people per server, they have 4 servers (clustered maps), a server for dungeons, a server for chat, etc. and they cap it at 2,000 people per server.

I would recommend setting up 3 dedicated servers: 1 server for the LAMP config (MySQL included, optimized for your core), BIND9 (for DNS of the website and the servers) and then 2 servers running the core with a 2000 person cap each.
Also, another thing you can do is compile MySQL, the core and everything yourself on the server (or off a similar machine) and tweak it according to your liking. You can even compile the Linux Kernel yourself if you really want high level optimization.

Compile MaNGOS On Linux - mangos foundation - game server development for students
Securing a Linux Installation - mangos foundation - game server development for students
    Compiling: Linux - ArcEmu-Wiki

What core are you using? This can be fixed with a small patch most likely

By the sounds of it, you should only enable players to send as much gold as they have and not any more.

What do you mean with as much as have?
It happens maybe when there is lag and start being rollbacks when login out so I think when someone gives gold he relog in and both have gold it must be something like that
