[Dedicated Server Setup] "Must-have's" request for a new Server

    Hey Guys,

after playing hours of BF2, we decided to have an private mmorpg Server.
    We chose WoW.

After following this fabulous guide to compile the managos Server:
    superguide-create-compile-configure-mangos-udb-scriptdev2-images

we glady held our first private WoW-Server.

    But now??
What is a must have to start playing?
I read a lot in the forum and found several things like
    • How to add players
    • how to administrate (in game)

And what else can you recommend us to use on our server?

Maybe this may become a nice collection for "starters" to get in the World ;-)

    Thanks for your help

Ok Well first you should start looking for good staff.

    Developers in Databases and C++
2 of each I'll say minimum. Then also you'll need GMs (Known as Game Masters) to do tickets and solve problems via in game.

Try getting a good website developer is always great to have. Make a website where you guys introduce yourselves and what your goals are. Players like Forums and sometimes even a ventrilo system where you can give live support to players.

See if it's worth going for a dedicated server and you should make your server pay for itself. aka Donation system is the best in this choice.

Try getting a vote system or advertise your server best place for this is Xtreme 100.

    Important things :

    1) Choose your core (ArcEmu / Mangos / TrinityCore2)
    2) Choose your database (WhyDB / IFDB) which ever is compatible with your Core
    3) Getting Staff (Database / Website / Game Master / Developers)
    4) Get a Website running for people to register accounts etc
    5) Do some advertising (also use vote system for this)
    6) Get some funds in to support the server's monthly bills (Donation system)

hmmm... let me be more specific.

You stated good basics for an "public" private WoW-Server.

My goal is to have an lan-server to play at weekends and on our community lan's.
I'm starting this project, because i like to develop and stress my brain.
I use to being in a developing community for a statistics system for BF2 (Award, medals, weapon unlocks...)

    so back to business...
    What i'Ve done:
    • using the Howto mentioned above to have Mangos+UDB+Scriptdev2

Server will be used to serve 4-50 people

    I found:
    ZAC (Account creator)
    and
GMmaster (??) (a GM admin panel for ingame use...)

Is this right for me? Do I need anything else?? (Bots?? Admin Console??)

    Thanks for your Help!

Making it lan is fine, aslong as you've already done that, there isn't much more you can do. All the things you need to do are done by the mangos.exe and realmd etc.

You can have a database manager program but that wont do too much.

we played the first hours now...

your're right... it works right from the edge. I needed to search a bit to find how to add a player account.
--> type into mangosd.exe "account create PLAYER PASSWORD"

ZAC is not working with mangos!

what I'm missing is an ingame admin tool (GMhelper).
(The GM helper prog has no working link here)

    Thanks for your help.
