Backing up a character / Creating a character blueprint

    Hi there,

I've been playing on a mangos server for some time now, and was wondering how I would create a "blueprint" of my character, as it's quite annoying to create a new character every time I try a new server.

I do not aim to transfer my character data straight from my old DB into the new one, but to create some kind of overview of the character. Spells being the most important.

So is there any way I could list all spells of a character? Or can I find this somewhere using HeidiSQL? Unfortunately, I am no longer able to actually log into the game, so it'd have to be possible using SQL or a command in the terminals.

    Thanks a lot!

    SELECT *FROM `character_table` WHERE `name` = "YourCharacterName";

Something like that, then backup the one character as data only, and then you can just execute it everytime or just get the spells etc.

    How do you mean?
The thing you posted, would that be a SQL query?
And how do I "backup one character as data only"?
    That's my problem

    Thanks for your reply

    P.S:
    Would this be of use?

Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner, I didn't see you replied.

It is a SQL query, you should be able to execute it using whatever you use (I use SQLyog -> paste query into the query box then press the 2 green arrows on top left). This should return the character and just that character of what you put in the query. You can then backup this as a SQL dump, so then you have just that character.

Going by this, it sounds like you are wanting to transfer your character from one private server to another. Unless they let you run SQL queries or have a CharTransfer program in place, this is (essentially) impossible.

There are multiple tables containing data for characters which you would need to export. It will only import correctly if the database version is the same.
The tables containing the data are in the characters database if you hadn't yet realised.

I cannot remember the names of the tables but if you know a bit about databases then it will probably seem clear. If you import the correct tables you will have your character on your account (assuming the account is linked with the character via database) and it will have the same appearance, spells, money, gear and so on.

    Good luck.
