    Creating/Changing MYSQL Accounts?

    Hey Guys,

I am using Ground Zero repack 'Athena' and have it all working fine for a while now but i wish to make it public.

I know how to edit mysql using my own mysql instance server but the repack comes with its own mysql server. Have tried various command lines to change the account but only seems to create an account on a new database rather then the Athena repacks. Plus when i login to the database using Navicat and check the mysql accounts the details are correct for my edited account yet wont accept the new details but the standard 'root' 'ascent'.

    Any advice please?

    Thanks.

Under the MySQL folder in the repack, look for "my.ini" and there should be a line refering to password in there.

To create new accounts - Download a database manager like Navicat, connect to your DB using default details, then click "users", and well... create a new user.

That's the problem i don't have a my.ini file within the repack after running mysql and if i create a new account using Navicat i get this error:

    Code:
091229 3:53:35 [Warning] Found invalid password for user: 'Kaotik@localhost'; Ignoring user
Maybe due to the passwords being encrypted and unable to put in standard letters/numbers?

First - Check processes, and find "mysql-nt.exe" or "mysqld.exe" and end the process.

Second - Press the (Im presuming) MySQL.bat.

Third - Your connection using "Kaotik" not "root", you need to create a new account once you have connected via root.

    Fourth - Profit :S?

Yeah done all that, created my account 'Kaotik' using my root account in Navicat. Closed connection and used my new account Kaotik to connect but get the access denied for user Kaotik using password=yes error.

EDIT: Done it, followed this nice video: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhZsOjBxpbU"]YouTube- MySQL tutorial: How to create a new user[/ame]

Seems i was right previously about the encrypted passwords since creating a new account within command line it obviously generated the correct password for me from my input.

    Thanks for the help.

For future reference, instead of having to edit files and go through many stages, you could of just used navicat/sqlyog to go to manage users/tools -> edit user, and then change the password for root which takes about 5 seconds.
