i dunno if this helps but it was not till Wrath that they had phaseing zones (if thats wht your trying to do) so you will need a 3.0+ server... but i don't know much to hlep you with sorry ^^;

I was working on a similar project with a RO server, but just extracting the game objects and changing them and repacking them... giant pain in the ass haha i was trying to replace all the images with old sprites from Chrono Trigger... if only we all had a team of developers lol

my advice to you would be to wait for people to make a more stable Emu for 1.12.1 and using that to make your game (because you will need a 100% custom client to play using a pre BC shell would be wayyyyy smaller lol) but thats just me.. obsessed with Pre-BC servers.

oh 1 final note on my 1st post, they did have a sort phasing on vanilla... i had a example.. but forgot it.

Probably shouldn't triple post Spike. And from experience ArcEmu or MaNGOS is going to best for you. Currently they are the biggest two emulators out there and with ArcEmu's lua support I think it pushes it over the edge a little.
