    Transferring Server / Backing up

So I've been running a server on my personal computer for a few days now and want to migrate it to a "server" computer I have sitting in my closet. (basically an older computer I've upgraded various parts on and leave it running 24/7).

I wanna move it mainly so it'll be more stable and won't have to restart as often, etc.

I've got MYSQL on it already and have installed the "Legendary Repack" (from this thread: http://www.mmowned.com/forums/emulat...tlk-3-x-x.html) on both computers.

    1. Can I simply copy my C:\Legendary Repack folder and replace all existing files?

    2. Do I need to do anything on the server prior to the move?

    3. Do I need to "backup" anything using MYSQL or Navicat before the move? And if so, how to do that and how to restore it once I am on the "server" computer.

    Thanks a bunch guys!

Well - If you want to move it the simplest way to do it is to copy your database (Via the whole folder) and the whole core (server - folder) and paste it into the same locations on the other computer.
Another way to do it if you cant use a memory stick or something is via svn (see emulater guide section stickied for how to setup one) and upload it all to there (will take a while - says limit of 100MB but i've been using 9gig with no problems for ages now). Then download it all on the other computer.
The final way and most proffesional (but can cause problems) is to take the folder with the core (scripts - arcemu world etc) and save it as a rar. Now upload it or whatever and put it on the other computer. With the database right click on the databases you want to export in sqlyog and hit "Backup as sql dump". Make sure you check the right options and save as a sql file. To import the database/s again just right click, create new database, right click on new database, restore from sql dump, target it. If you get a error restoring it, it is most likely you havn't got it configured to allow a file that big. In this case google the error to find some guides - It's hard to explain.
    Hope this helps!

I had planned on just simply copying C:\Legendary Repack over and replacing all the files on the "server" computer (new one) which is what it sounds like you suggested in the first "simple" way. I've got a portable 160gb WD hard drive so that's not difficult to transfer (and they're on the same network so I could simply transfer over the LAN if I wanted).

I'll give it a shot and let everyone know how it turned out.

    Thanks for the reply!

it ended up just being as simple as copy/paste with the repack folder. Of course I already had a webserver running and mysql installed on the new machine so there wasn't anything to it.
