    ISP Speed/Specs

I have i7 920 @3.2GHz with 12GB RAM and 16mbit download 1.5mbit upload. Is this suitable to be a good host or will the people playing experience lag? I currently use Hamachi mainly because my IP is dynamic and my ISP blocks port 80. Is using Hamachi to much trouble and will it lag?

Depends on how many players you will have, and yes that uplink won't be enough for alot amount of players.

I thought of going with a VPS that has 20/20 connection speed but the hardware isnt as good as mine. What exactly is served through the server and what is a good upload speed to use? There are going to be at least 50 of us.

If you have 50 people on, you could easly get away with a 10/10MBit uplink.

See the thing is though I cant afford more ram on the server if I go with a VPS. Hardware specs is what's exp in the hosting world.

You don't need 12Gig ram to host 50 players.

Well I mean the server I was looking at only has 512 RAM...thats not nearly enough. I know I dont need 12GB, that's just what my desktop has. It's also the 3.2GHz i7 processing speed.

True. But in all reality who wants to pay $80/mo to host a server for their friends? Lol. Thanks for your responses.
