Donations?

Do you guys that run private servers with more than 5 people on them get a good amount of donations? And do you actually use them to fix up your server?
Im thinking about creating a private server and getting all my friends to tell friends of friends of friends and so on about it and making money off donations. Then secretly using the donations to buy game time for live wow :O

heres the deal. running a wow emulator is illegal. nevermind asking for money. i am surprised that peyton isnt in jail by now. and if ur ever on wowscape... good luck finding a GM. they are all at the local bar getting drunk off your donations.

It's so illegal that there's millions of servers and even the ones on WoW top 100 are pretty safe, I don't think blizzard cares anymore.

Well. I have been a developer/admin on alot of servers. Almost all of them want donations so they can buy stuff for themselfs. Not the server. Like there is this one guy.

"I want to create a server so i can get donations and save up for a new car".. I told him he shouldnt do that. If people found out that you were using their donations for you car? They would quit. You get complains. You would have people BEGGING for refund.

Yes use your donations for dedicated server or vps.. er something.

A new car lol. i would love to see what blizzards view on this would actually be... i know they arnt cracking very many whips. but every once and a while someone gets snuffed by them. I dont really care about money from donations. if i wanna make big money, ill learn how to MAKE my own video games. right now im just glad to have a server where most things work... unlike %80 of the freeservers out there
