Connecting to Navicat, Heidi SQL, ect.: Can't connect to MySQL Server on 'localhost'.

Hi, I'm trying to connect to Navicat, HeidiSQL, SQLyog, and programs like that but when I try to connect to connectios I made in the past week or so they don't work. I've been looking for a solution or even what this really means but I can't seem to find anything or else I'm just not realizing it.

    Heres the full error message...

    Error No. 2003
Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)
    --
Thats the message from SQLyog but the messages on Navicat and such are nearly the same.

By the way, I'm not brand new at servers but theres still quite a bit I don't know yet.

Any help is appreciated with a lil' +Rep! Thanks a ton!

Your navicat can't connect to the mysql server. Make sure (during mysql configuration) that you've entered a password you'd like and wrote the same in navicat. Also check your config files and make that the same.

Go to your task manager (Ctrl - alt - del) and look if mysql is running, if not then go to your mysql folder open bin and start it. Or if your using a repack start the bats included, if there was any.

Let me guess you are using MySQL 5.1 right?
Search for MySQL 5.0 and download that one cause it will get rid of your problem. There seems to be a problem with the version 5.1 something with not saving. So you will need to reconfigure your MySQL every time you reboot your PC.
Downloading MySQL 5.0 will get rid of that annoying problem.

Edit found MySQL 5.0 link for you http://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/M...m/pick#mirrors

If you have a "MySQL.bat" click on that to Launch MySQL to get your Navicat to work.
