    [Help] Components for my dedicated server

    Im going to make a Dedicated server for a WoW Private server , Hosting websites and maybe a vent server , These are the components im already thinking of getting. and what is the Wow and vent Ram usage and cpu usage per client?

    Please comment and tell me your opinons. (dont want it to cost over $1000AU)

    Final list

    Intel q6600 quad core
    Wd Raptor HDD , 150G x2 in raid 0
    Mobo: ASUS P5K-v
    550 watt PSU Somethink cooler master.
    OS: Linux Server
    Ram: 2x2G of DDR2 Ram pc6400.

    Hmm you want my opinion? First you have to choose a GOOD motherboard. Thats the base, remember!

    Second, a Graphic that has Dedicated Memory, or else it will use your RAM memory.

    At least 4Gb RAM-8Gb RAM

    CPU- Quad-Core essentialy, or Core 2 Duo. Those are the best for desktops.

    Use XP for server's takes up MUCH less memory, Recomend getting the highest ram you can get.

    Yep Snailz is right. Use XP, Vista uses 512Mb more

    yeh though so ,vista uses more

    ASUS Striker Extreme is my opinion

    PCI Express, Supports Quad-Core and Core 2 Duo, supports 8Gb RAM maximum.

    Using linux, Windows Server 2003 would be better than Windows XP/Vista. FreeBSD is best of choice for me, it can get performances 2x better. Your memory is good to work with 300-500 clients of active peak a day.

    is my ram good enough and also should i get a UTP with the power supply or isnt it nessessary and what one. can someone also suggest a stable power supply unit that will be able to cope with 24/7 running.
