    Which EMU should I choose?

I am a fairly savvy guy, not a programmer by any stretch, but I'm sure with all the good help here I can get a public server setup.

The question I have is, which EMU should I pick, and more than that should I use a repack, etc, etc.

What I want to setup is a private server that some friends can play on. I'd like the rules to mimic a Blizzard run server, the main reason I want to run a private server is so that I can host and run world events. To that end here are the things I'd like to be able to adjust or tweak:
    XP gain rates
    Spawn rates
    Drop rates
Spawn loactions (if possible, for events)

I'd love to have working (and scripted) instances as well as WoTLK content and quests, though these aren't 100% necessary.

So my question is, which EMU/Repack should I use?

    Which EMU should I choose?

I would recommend Mangos for you since its very easy to set up and to change features is easy as pie.

ArcEmu is more common but not a good choice. Generally I like Ascent type Cores over Mangos, but Mangos is a good starting point. See how you get on with Mangos and sample other Emus if you wish.

Looks like most people say Mangos for ease of use though Ascent is better. Which one has more features, and functionality?
And what are the differences between Mangos and Ascent?

MaNGOS, it's open source, no drama, better developers, focused support for 3.0.3 and beyond, and a great community.
