Try and change it all to localhost/127.0.0.1
Then try and connect, then you can find out whether it is the server thats messed up or the public thing.

when i try to configure sql it gives security error 1045 it says that i need to open firewall but i did that already 2 times and it still wont work can u please help me???

My friend is having the same thing.. That unable to connect. and he doesnt even have NAT...

I tried the second sql client and ti seemed way to complicated, I'm going to try the first mysql you posted, did you say you got the server running on your vista laptop? And if ti is at all possible can you add me on msn to further help me with this. After downloading the second sql client, it raised a question for me, where you running msn when, or anythign else when you installed mysql?

Hey, I seem to be having a problem with my server conencting to Hamachi and the no-ip thingy. The server works fine because i can play on the localhost but when i change it to my Hamachi IP it says "My Hamachi Username is not allowed to connect to this mysql server." I've forwarded all the ports, do i need to change the navicat's hostname/ip address as well as the .conf files? I'm deeply confused about this. Any help you can offer would be great!

Make sure your ports on the firewall are open and make sure you have no other MySQL instance's running. Click ctrl + Alt + Delete then look in processes and find something with MySQL.

Try and make it Hamachi.
Then get your friend to join your Hamachi network and set your realmlist.wtf to your Hamchi IP.

I do not reccomend running a server on Vista as Vista is so slow and full of bugs.
I was not able to run a server on Vista.

All you do is change what I told you to change.
You do NOT change your Navicat. It should be localhost
The only thing that you will need to change is the .conf files and your realmlist.wtf file. Make sure you are in the Hamachi Network.

Thanks...It all worked, BUT now i did it on my other computer and i open logonserver.exe and it opens for like 2 seconds and closes...im almost certain i have .NET. Thanks in advance

Yeah thats what i had tried. And it said "My hamachi username is not allowed to connect to this mysql server" or something along those lines.

The only two .exe's you run are ascent-logon and ascent-world

Well... connecting via Hamachi has nothing to do with MySQL so I have no idea sorry...
Try changing your Hamachi username?

when i open ascent.exe i get a message that says access denied for user becasue of password or something

Well, you have a wrong MySQL password then
