Cant see my characters after creating them. Im trying it as a public via hamachi with two friends. When we tried to create characters, its possible but they dont appear on the list. Where did I go wrong?

I had this problem after i dumped and reinstalled my db.. I am currently looking on how to fix this I will let you know if i find a way

Oddly enough, I don't have this issue at work. And with my parent co. in the building doing a network audit, I cannot bring anything up until they're gone at the end of the week.

My problem at home might be my port forwarding, and I might need to work on that.

Lastly, I've never set up a private server before, so my work pc (seemingly working flawlessly), as well as my home pc (character list issue), are running the db and related files for the first time. Oddly enough, I used the 3 .conf files from work, and edited the ip's to work at home, so I don't believe that I should be having this issue.

It's funny you mention that.. I haven't had time to test (and it sucks that i cant run wow through Remote Desktop or i would test from work) but I double checked my router config cause thats something i can do through rd lol.. and for some reason one of the ports was routing to one of the other pcs on my network.. however if this was the case i would think it would have not worked the first time I ran it.. unless for some reason the router config got changed between installs (which is highly unlikely).. when i get home tonight I will test it and see if it fixed it..

I did notice one thing when i created my char it did as yours did and it displays it on the realm select as having 1 char but not on the select screen so i went to the char table in the db and there were no entries.. so i was like hm and i tried to recreate a char with the same name and no can do it says the name already exists.. so one way or another either the forwarding as you state or a problem with one of the DB macro's/config files.

I guess my question is to anyone who knows where are the char names stored other than in the char table? and what process creates the chars (and where is this located) and what if any ports/config files are used in this process (strictly in the char creation process i don't want all ports used..)?

Just out of curiosity did you previously have this repack installed on your home network then drop the db as i did? or is this a fresh install?

This is my first installation of any kind of server, so it was a full fresh install at home and at work. I did the work install first, and then did the home install later that night.

Strange as it was where I was showing a couple of characters on the server selection screen, but every time I restarted all 3 batches, those numbers vanished. I can't rd into my home system to find out if those names were created and saved, but it was my belief that nothing saves, except for that session, becaue I had no characters at the realm selection screen whenever I restarted and return to it.


I'm very new at this, and willing to help you and the community, so ask away and I'll do what I can to reproduce errors, check ports, etc. Too bad I shut my home pc down last night, otherwise I would rd into it myself.

If any of this is better suited for pm, please do so, and I'll do what I can.

I unpacked it following Illidan1`s guide and after I click the MySQL1 and then try to click the Logonserver 2 I get an "Application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found." Is this something in the repack?

Right, I need ur help again! This is just my second post here on Mmowned! Anyways..! I have started up mysql, logonserver and ascent, but I cant log in. It freezes at "Logging into Server" and then I get back to the realmlist. Help! Im a noob :P

were is the database that i extract into MySQLYog
Also is there any map extracting that i have to do for this like most other server setups?
and for some reason at the last part in Mysql setup it gets a X on starting services can anyone help with that?

database is built in and you will ahev to get the maps seperatly
