    stupid questions....

saying "read buffer overslow in DBC reading of file DBC.spell.dbc" a few thousand times

    2. how to i make accounts/log ins? i tried to make some with navicat. but i dont think im doing it rightm when i try to log on it keeps saying "unable to validate game version"?

    3. and i also want to run this server local, how do i connect with another computer to my server? so there are 2 computers playing on my server?

O.K....one, for your previous post, read through this thread. I have answered the .dll file question way too many times.

two, if you are getting the read buffer overflow DBC blablabla, that tells me you are trying to run game version 3.3.x. Arc does NOT support anything past 3.2.2a. That would also be why you get the "unable to validate" message.

three, if you want to connect more than one computer, you'll have to find a thread on how, this thread does not have instructions for that & I don't know how to do that.

O.K., I made some minor changes to your configs. I made my changes in red. I can't say for sure those are what is causing the problem, but Make those changes & see what happens
Also, if you are using Vista, make sure you are running the 2 .exe's as "run as administrator".
If neither of those options work, The next thing I want you to do is post your "realms.config

O.K., again, I am not positive this is the cause of your current problem, but it is still a problem. #1, Your time zones don't match. In world, you have time zone "0" but in realms you have time zone "2" so change the one in "world.config" to "2". #2, Your population, supposedly it works with the ".0" on the end. I had problems with it & took that off & problem went away, so change yours from "2.0" to "2". #3, This one is a biggy. The Address line, you took off the port. The original # there is 127.0.0.1:8129. Now, I have never hooked up externally so I can't be 100% it's the same port, but I DO know it has to HAVE a port! So, you should change that line to "67.49.74.146:8129". If you still have a problem, don't try & go external for now, get your server running internally 1st (which means change address to the original # I just wrote above) and see if that corrects it.

You may also want to try making a password for MySQL,Navicat, etc. one of my posts a few pages back explains how to go back & add one.

If this stuff still doesn't solve your problem, then there has to be steps you missed in compiling. Are you running XP or Vista? Did you move all the library file from the core VC folder to visual studios VC folder? Did you compile, change the names & then move the zlib.lib & whatever the other one was called? Did you copy & move the 2 .dll files? Only answer these questions if the above did NOT work

Yay! I got all the way to this point without having to ask a question! Lol.

What do you mean trying to run 3.3.x? All I did was follow the guide, as well as downloading the 3.0.9 DBC's listed in the guide.

    Also, the guide says,
I cannont post maps because the are to large to upload but they aren't really needed anymore.
Maps aren't needed? Are they automatically derived from something else? If they are needed, which map versions do I need if I used this guide? 3.2.2a?

Edit: I am indeed asking these questions because I am getting the buffer overflow on spells.dbc a million times.

O.K., I swear I am not saying this to be a snot, but if you are not understanding what that 1st quote you made of my post means, maybe you shouldn't be setting up your own server...Arc is not noob friendly.
Aside from that, the 1st thing you should do is read this entire thread. It has been pointed out repeatedly that this guide is very outdated! It was written for game version 3.0.9 but arc & WhyDB are up to game version 3.2.2a, & soon to be 3.3.0.
So, basically you are using DBC files from game vers. 3.0.9, a server for game vers. 3.2.2a & I am guessing using game vers. 3.3.0. Obviously that wont work.
So, go back to at least page 9, That is where I started posting. My posts are easy to pick out because I usually type in white not Grey.
As for the maps, supposedly they aren't really needed anymore, but if you use any addons that modify the maps, or show unexplored areas, then you need them. Again, I have posted about how to get the maps.

EDIT 2: Self-answered at the bottom

Nah, you're not a snot, lol. I know all the stuff you just said, and I've actually been an IT programmer and server admin for over a decade professionally and in the military. I had 100 problems during this setup and read this whole forum as many times and found all the answers.

But your new post actually does answer the major part of my question... That if you followed this tutorial, and are using the SVN listed, you are probably compiling a server that is running the equivilant to WoW's version 3.2.2a. But since the SVN is updated (being SVN and all) and the DBC's aren't (Being a hard link), we have to find DBC's (and 'optionally' maps) for 3.2.2a.

I haven't done anything at all with my personal real installation of WoW, though yes I am using the most updated version. I believe the only thing a person does with their "real" version of WoW is to use map and DBC extractors on it, right? Which would mean they are getting 3.3 version files, which wouldn't work.

So ya, I'm not doing that. All I have right now is what I was told to get. So I have Arcemu server 3.2.2a, and DBC's 3.0.9. So I assume all I gotta do is find somewhere where there are DBC's for 3.2.2a and perhaps maps too, or downgrade my personal WOW to do it (Ew).

Ya, this is what I got from your response, lol. Is that what you were saying? If so, any tips on searcing for 3.2.2a stuff? Or is torrent the only way to go.

Edit: I have found a LOT of promissing ****** links that seem to have good info. But the cached pages are jacked up and the website is currently down. Is this a widely used fix-finding website, and my timing is off and I should wait till it's up? They seem to have DBC and Map files for 3.2.2a....

    EDIT 2 (Self-Found) http://www.filefront.com/thankyou.ph...d33a19abb092f2
Yay for finding 3.2.2a DBC's!!! Now the world server and logon server both come up fine. Still, if anybody knows where I can get a good download of the map's that'd be great. I can live without my addons over downgrading my real WoW.

    Another Question, Lol Realmlist.wtf

I have selected the option to show hidden files/folders just in case... I have both manually navigated to my WoW folder, as well as right-clicked my working WoW icon and "Open Containing Folder." That folder does not have realmlist.wtf.

In a computer search, I did find it in my wow/Data/enUS folder, but from what I've read, people say that is not the right one. Still, I tried editing that one, but even if I straight up delete it, I can only log on to Blizzard's WoW.

I also tried to manually change it in the wow/WTF/config file. Still nothing but Blizzard's WoW.

I have also tried creating a realmlist.wtf file in the main wow folder, and still nothing but Blizzard'd WoW.

So how do I log on to my seemingly working private server?

    This.

    set realmlist 127.0.0.1

    And login and tadah.

If you want to make your server public there are many guides here on how to do so.

I did that... I set it to 127.0.0.1... saved it... Then I opened wow.exe (the regular blizz update on the left showed up), I typed in "root" and "root" which is what I made all the user names and passwords... and it didn't work. Then I typed in my regular WoW login info and it logged me into Blizz. O.o

    I tried both:
    set realmlist 127.0.0.1

    and:
    set realmlist 127.0.0.1
    set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
    set realmlistbn ""
    set portal us

But I think the problem is that I messed up my WoW Downgrade from 3.3 to 3.2.2a. So I am going to have to figure out how to do that.

I am about to re-install WoW to a new folder (so I have 2 WoW's), and then let it do the updates up to 3.2.2a then stop the updates. Ya?
