Custom Portals

This is a guide on how to create custom portals!!!

I know there are many posts on custom portals, but, i have not seen any that truly explain what to do in a noob friendly version. Here is my attempt at it :]


Open up heidisql, or navicat, or whatever you are using as a database organizer.


Go to the table Teleport_coords, and use any Teleport: ______ entry. Keep in mind that you will be modifying one, (from my understanding, you cant create a portal spell yet) of these. This means you cant keep this one, so if you need to keep lets say, a portal to shattrath, than you simply dont modify that one.


One portal that is never used i don't think, is the id 31 (Goldshire) Here is where you are creating the spell. So, what you need to do here, is log in on your private server, go to the place you want the portal to send you. type in .gps, and write this information down. It should give you the mapID, and the x, y, and z axises of where your character is. It will also give you the orientation, which is unimportant. Write this down, and copy it into the spell you are modifying. I will be using Teleport: Goldshire as an example. it should be set up like this:

ID: 31 Name: Teleport: My custom place MapId: what i wrote down x: my x axises y: my y axises z: my z axises. Totrigger is simply 0.

Now, remember the ID. Which in our case is 31.


Now go to Gameobject_names table, and create a new entry. have the entry be something that isnt being used (obviously) something high like 10000000. The type will be 22, because 22 is a casting, player triggered, type object, like chests, or portals! The displayid will be anything you want for a portal :] here is a list of some actual portal displayids, and one cool one i am using atm. NOTE: displayid can be anything you want!! it can be a fence, and still work!


2290 = force field ring
4393 = Darnassus
4396 = Stormwind
4394 = Ironforge
4398 = Undercity
4395 = Orgrimmar
4397 = Thunder Bluff
6956 = Silvermoon
6955 = Exodar


The name can be ANYTHING YOU WANT!!! Keep in midn that when you scroll over the portal, the name that you put in will show up!! so nothing private or nasty is advised :] Now, the spellfocus.. Here is where remembering that id comes in handy!! Ours was.... oh yes, 31? I would simply put in 31. Since we changed the x y and z axises, it will no longer port us to goldshire, but instead, to our custom area!!

The rest of the entry is 0, unless you want to add sounds! That is a whole different topic unfortunately.


Hopefully this helps, because all the guides i was referred to were (pardon my expression) CRAP!
