okay dude I forwarded all my ports and I made the dns. I did everything your steps say, but when I try to start up the server I get an error. MySQL could not be started. What do I do???????????????????????????????

Ok i have a little problem... I cant forward my router, becouse it aint mine...
I live in a biulding with 7 others on a shared connection, and its the biulding owner the controls the router. Is there a port that i can use, without forwarding it??

My server just randomly stopped working publicly, and I'm not sure why. All ports are open. Configs are correct. Host file is corrrect. realmlist is correct.

I just get stuck at connecting now. Any solutions?

I noticed some of you also had trouble saving your C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\hosts file I am stuck with windows vista and because of that it would not let me save the file as mentioned before so I saved it to the desktop as a .txt file so it was named hosts.txt. Then copied it back to the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\ folder deleted the old host file then renamed the one i copied over from hosts.txt to hosts and then everything worked fine. I hope this is useful to someone.

I also noticed that my router will not let me open all the ports that are mentioned in the guide so I was originally DMZing my puter with the server on it but I found that my server runs fine with only a few ports open.
8129 / 8129
8093 / 8093
3724 / 3724
3727 / 3727
80 / 80

Those are the only ports I have open and I have people from all over connecting to my server and I do not have to DMZ anymore. I hope this is useful.

OMG!!!!! dude great guide i have tried so many times to go public like this but i have always had to fall back to hamachi cause they didn't work, but this is great thanks soo much +Rep defenetally.

mizt, the only other way to run the server is to use hamachi, either that or ask the guy who owns the router to let you forward a few ports, i dont think that theres much else you can do.

Also, I have a problem. I struggled a little on step 14 but I think I got passed it. To check, I tryed logging in on another computer. I logged in successfully but before my char could pop up to log in, my realmlist popped up. This problem keeps repeating itself.
