    Reputation Modification

I've been messing around with a server on my home computer and have been trying to edit the .DBC files in an attempt to change the starting reputations of newly created characters.

The tools I have are as follows:
    DBCUtil
    MyWarcraftStudio

These two tools, from what I have been able to gather, should enable me to convert the .dbc file to .csv, allow me to edit the file, then recompile back into a .dbc (and push it out to a patch-x.MPQ

However, after I change the values (and replace the faction.dbc file in my server directory), there is no change in the reputation values.

I can change these values in my database after the character is created, but that negates what I'm after.

If anyone can offer any help/tips for solving this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. If anyone needs more info, just let me know - I check the threads here quite often.

    Thanks.

this isn't quite as difficult as you're making it. In the database, there is a configuration that allows you to set the current AVAILABLE pvp titles, all you have to do is that. if you're talking about literal area reputation, good luck...you're prolly the only one trying to do that.

*nods* Unfortunately I'm not talking about pvp titles, but faction reputation. As in, Orgrimmar rep, Stromwind rep, etc. My goal is to be able to set new values at character creation. So, upon making a new Human Warrior, you're rep with Stormwind isn't, say, 1000 rep, but 6000. That's what I'm trying to figure out. =)

well, i'm not sure if there is a way to do that PRECISELY, but i'm sure there's a way to call a php function to make them a custom faction upon creation. As for how to do it...pfft...you got me. I'm not THAT advanced with php yet.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know where to begin with PHP or anything. Most of my time is being spent learning Java and C++.

Anyway, if anyone else has any insight into editing .DBC files, I always welcome help.

What you may be able to do is simply modify the reputation on kill in the config file to some extreme number and then create monsters assigned to the various factions. Kill the faction monster and your rep goes +++. Only thing I can see with this is when one faction goes up (ie Aldors) the respective enemy faction (Scryers) may drop huge too.
