Just a few questions.

For my private server i run i wanted to ask these few things.

1) where do i change mysql password ..... was told to change it weekly for security reasons .... and do i have to change other things passwords then like my auto account registration that run through mysql and need the mysql password?

2) How do i backup my private servers database ..... say incase the server is taken over by a hacker i can delete the database currently on that the hacker is on and re put up the backup database ...... how do i re put up the backup database

3) what other actions should i take to avoid hackers from my private server ...... i already passworded my computer, have a router ( with only the needed ports open for the server), have a firewall, run antivirus, and check software weekly at least ...... anything else

1.For me I just uninstall mysql, delete the data folders that are left over and CTRL+ALT+DEL the running sql process, then reinstall and use a new login/pass
this only takes about 5 mins.

2. TO back up your data base right click on the table or the data base (using navicat) right click and DUMP SQL and save it to a good folder.
If you want to bring it back up start a new connection (empty) and IMPORT.

3. You are never safe from hackers no matter what you think. What you have going is fine; the only malicious people out there that would want to hack your computer because you have a PTR (private test realm) up are 12 year olds with a new program like Sub7 was way back in the day. Wouldn't worry about it and your sql until you are doing donations. Learn PHP.

I have a non-hamachi problem my configs are correct.....everyone can connect...but I can't connect to my own server.....Can you not connect to the server that is in your network.Plz answer quick I got to get this up soon lol

Well after setting it up again, reading all the readme's 3x and a lot of time going to waste, it still doesn't work.

When looking at the launcher-warning log I noticed something:

Normal (My place):
20:30:08.5460 Fetch version information from eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com (http://80.239.178.132/update/PatchSequenceFile.txt).
20:30:09.0460 Received version information from http://80.239.178.132/update/PatchSequenceFile.txt.
20:30:09.1710 No patch is required.

Without internet:
20:30:08.5460 Fetch version information from eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com (http://80.239.178.132/update/PatchSequenceFile.txt).
Could not fetch version information from eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com

When realmlist.wtf changed to 127.0.0.1 it says
Could not fetch version information from 127.0.0.1 (http://127.0.0.1/update/patchSequenceFile.txt)

My guess is, WoW Emulators don't work when there is no internet connection / cable connected. Can anyone try running one with cable unplugged ?

It worked at patch 2.0.x, but this version doesn't seem to work.
Any help appreciated, tried everything I know.

There should be no reason for it to check online for patches.
I would suggest, if you have the patience; to start over. New ascent build. Use an earlier version or a newer one. It took me about 2 weeks to get my server running after solving all my errors; so you are not alone.

wow servers work if you have no internet thats y when u first make a server the ip is 127.0.0.1

On emu you gotta change PATCHLIST to us.version.worldofwarcraft.com if you use need to patch up, otherwise delete the patch line.

its telling you that launcher wants to patch up but doesnt find the patch on your PC>

I finally updated ascent, but when I create a character he has the starting gear on on the selection screen, but when I enter the game he has nothing equipped nor is there anything in his inventory. If I add something to his inventory it doesn't stay, but if I equip it, I see it at the selection screen, but not in game. BTW, gold saves. The console isn't spitting out errors either, but I'm feeling a column is crooked in the db. I'm using 3.8 stable too.

you need to update your database...
if its already updated then check if item_insert_queue isnt broken also playeritems table..

I'm using 3.8 stable, perfectly clean. I've also ran every sql update, but it still doesn't work. Maybe ncdb team screwed something up in the world db.

Ascent just crashed and when i restarted it, every player items gone.
I have checked the database but that is ok.

Yea, your problem is similar to the one I posted above it seems.
