Well, the truth is I'm a leecher.
I'm usually here for glider profiles...
I decided I shouldn't be a *****, so that's why I'm making this guide.
Q: What is SVN?
A: SVN stands for subversion, it's a very common system for opensource, were developers put out their latest code along with comments.
Short: Easy way to share code.
Q: What do I need it for in this case?
A: Well, you could always have the latest version. And you wouldn't have to search for thousands of forums to get one of the latest cores.
NOTE: Trunk is very often unstable and untested. Personally I have never experienced any trouble with this.
I know there are compiling guides!
But I haven't seen any guide for svn and compiling.
Well! Let's start:
Required:
TortoiseSVN (32 bit - 64 bit)
A compiler - I use VS2008 (I suggest VS2003, VS2005 or VS200
Getting started:
So, lets make a new folder called ascentsvn/ncdbsvn (NCDB is the most blizzlike DB for ascent) or something.
Open the folder.
In the folder, right click in it (as if you were going to make a new folder).
Choose SVN Checkout.
A options-like window will pop up.
Where it says SVN Link/URL or something put in the address of NCDB/Ascent.
Links:
ascent : http://projects.emupedia.com/svn/ascent/ (user: anonymous / pass: <blank>)
ncdb : http://projects.emupedia.com/svn/ascent/ (user: anonymous / pass: <blank>)
Then you click OK.
Now you will see that a new window appears, you will see that files are being downloaded to your folder.
Woot! You probably did your first SVN Checkout!
When the downloading finished, click OK.
Now we're ready to go on with the compiling (ascent):
Compiling:
