First i must start by saying im not sure if this is the area this is suppost to be in but since its in regards to a private server i decided i would put it here.

I recieved an e-mail recently from someone saying they are undercover for blizzard to find private servers and telling me to shut mine down. I am curious if anyone here thinks the e-mail i was sent is legitimate or not. From reading it the typos and gramar errors make me think its not real but i would prefer to get an outside opinion.

I am sorrry to inform you that i am under cover for blizzard finding out about private servers blizzzard are not going to have this so they will want the fine of $10,000 ©2005-2008 Blizzard Entertainment. All rights reserved,the game now i advise you to shut down the server or blizzard will shut it down for you we will take not further action on this.

EDIT: Also the e-mail address it was sent from was not a blizzard e-mail address as far as i can tell. It is a hotmail address.

Alright, Thanks for all your opinions! i thought it was fake anyways but i figured a second opinion couldnt hurt. What made me think this mostly was because i recieved it right after i declined this persons application to be a GM on my server.

I would have considered it fake right there except that being declined could make it either really fake or really true.

Fake because he was mad that i declined him and wanted me to shut the server down because he couldnt join it as staff.

True because maybe he was so mad that he actually did contact blizzard some how and report it.

but that can be easely faked too wth a email bomber program...
anyhow all the info inside is wrong also...

Blizzard employees speak 4 or more different languages,So should be able to write a mail without faults
