[2/24/08] Ascent Compiles and Extras

Ok I am in need of help in figureing out a few things. It always happens when I try to update. Ok let me try and explain and perhaps you can walk me through the correct way I should be doing this. For ease of explaining this to me.. reference me using 3570 ascent core and upgrading to your newest one 3639

Lets start from scrtach to see if I am doing this correctly.

I create DB's in MYSQL 5.1 called Logon, World and Character

I then import the Character DB I have backed up with my old characters in it. should be 2.3.0 full sql

Next I execute the Login.sql you have posted.

Then I change the too.bat in ncdb 1030 and make sure world and character DB is defined properly.

Now I always get sql errors no matter what. So I go to the sql DB file you posted and look for the ones I need to update.

Is there any place else I need to look for sql updates. SOme work and some dont in the file you have posted.

Example after excuting the login.sql you have posted no matter what I always get the sql query error about the accounts table not being right. Which I then go and execute 3215 on the lgin DB and then have to recreate the logins.

Next question whould be

When you post a new database file with a new asecent core. Are the newest sql queries in there somewhere or so I need to look elsewhere if I get errors.

I am pretty adept at doing these types of things I just started this a week ago and I am still baffled at the order things need to done.

NCDB usually has all of the updates already in place.
And when you are updated your core from say revision 3333 to 3533. You will need to execute any SQL file that is between 3333 and 3533. None before, and none after. If you are using a completely new DB, then you dont need to.

Every thing works fine, But one thing..i cant get my masteraddon to like show me the Tickets. i see the icon under my Map but when my players post a ticket. Nothings there. >.<

still having my problem to start the server, ascent-logonserver.exe and ascent-world.exe works fine but when i try to start ascent-realmserver.exe it gives me an error =(

Error: Access denied for user 'moocow'@'localhost'

i have root as user name in my SQL and the conf files are root aswell, there is only 3 places to change the name right?

Bloodsin, you need to /join gm_sync_channel

@Zido, you never need to start realmserver. Only Logonserver and Ascent

but as i start em all works yes, but when i log on there isnt any servers in the realm list.

Thanks for the help Gastricpenquin.. Now I have a few other questions.

Ok lets start with your latest rev 3639.

After I extract it I have the follwing folders.. sql,dbc,script_bin

After modifying the .conf files in there. Do I need to create any other folders in there.

I then creat a folder called scripts and add in the archived LUA scripts in there.

I keep reading about C+++ scripts. WHere do these come from and how do I add them.

I went through black temple and illadan does not work. Am I missing some folders and where do I put them.

I am just trying to understand the whole process from start to finish.

If you would not mind walking me through from start to finish.

Start with extracting your compile 3639. I extract and use the 1030 NCDB just using the tool.bat.

after modifying the .conf files.. and adding my maps folder to the ascent folder.

What do I do next to add scripts and such?

i try to run ascent and it loads the dbc files then it does a crash dump i checked the ascent and the logon.confs there all right so wht could it be
