    Opening Ports on a Router

    I'm going public with my WoW server, however i'm on a router. I was reading joetherogues guide but it wasn't to specific especially about router configuration.

    I'm hoping someone here can help me with details on how to let people connect to my server.

    First how should the Host file look exactly, currently i have it like this:

    127.0.0.1 host
    127.0.0.1 <my routers assigned ip>
    127.0.0.1 <DynDNS Address>

    Is that correct?

    Also how exactly should i setup my router? i know the ports to open but should they be pointing at my routers assigned IP or my ISP's assigned IP?

    Your host file is fine. To forward your ports, first go to

    1) Start > Run > type "cmd" & press enter
    2) When the command prompt comes up, type "ipconfig" & press enter
    3) Three addresses should come up. The last line should list your "Default Gateway". Something like 192.xxx.x.x
    4) Type that address into your browser (ex: "http://192.xxx.x.x")
    5) Enter your router username and pass
    6) This step depends on which router you have. For ex, on linksys routers, you would go to Applications & Gaming > Port Forwarding

    Click Here to find your Ip > Click Here
    When you found your Ip go into your Url Bar and put that Ip that u just got from The site link
    A pop up should come up saying "UserName" "Password
    "UserName = Admin
    "Password = Admin

    And then u must go into your Port Forwarding Sections and port the right Ports

    Or go to Google and search on how to Forward Ports
