That's the plan. We just got ourselves a dedicated server, so we'll have this up and running shortly.

    Hmm - Nice.

Im interested, ill be looking by for updates. Good work.

Notice that im the only actual member that has posted a "good work" Post, but none the less ill make a mark and handout some thoughts of mine.

Well, im pretty entreagued with this "download content" of yours hoping it will be a blast.
As for the different themes, maybe an option to switch between a couple of them, but for me, what it looks like isnt the greatest thing about a program, its the actual content that comes along with it, but a user-friendly interface is never bad.

Maybe make 2 - 3 different themes, or more, Windows Classic, some dark theme, what not.

Anyways, keep up the good work.

The theme should just inherit from the Windows theme, which is what it will do if he makes it like a regular VB form.

At any rate, for Download Content put an entry under File, and make it a popup dialog. If you need further help just PM me, i'd be happy to assist. =)

    Thanks for the good comments.

I still don't understand what the issue is regarding how much power this uses :S

This Control Panel is only run when the server is offline. It's only used to update it and run tools to control / edit the server. Chances are, if you're planning on running a server you have a beast of a machine anyway. There will be another program used for restarting the servers, which will be tiny and efficient.

I think some people have the wrong idea, this is not a new emu or an edit of one. It's simply a repack with a simple install system, and the ability to easily install new content for your server.

I will probably keep the UI the same for the main control panel, but the restarter I will make efficient.

Meh, graphics in an application (like this on in particular) don't take much as far as resources go. So long as you can drop it to the tray, you won't notice it's there. Personally; I like the original layout. I don't mind the 'simple but functional' stuff, but seriously? Win 95 style? Screw that!

We still haven't decided 100%. We consider ourselves to be a bit of a repack because we'll be compiling a server & making db content for you to use. We will probably be using Aspire, because of it's Lua capabilities, and because I don't personally like ArcEmu. MaNGOS / Trinity are very nice applications, but we can't do much with them with the current GM commands + lack of Lua. If only they were changed, we'd be using it in seconds. Why don't we add those features ourself? Because 1) we don't know how, and 2) it won't be used by many people other than InSpire folk, so it would defeat the point of it.

    2. Can run events like when what arc already has with the darkmoon
It will give you the option to run regular events, correct. It will also give you options to run custom events we/other people have created. Not to mention all other content like Malls, Raids, Arenas, NPCs etc.

    3. Update
Yepp, of course it updates. It will update the core, dbcs and maps if required, and update the db structure. All automatic, no hassle.

So my question for you is there going to be a website setup as well? If so will it have player tools ect?

Not sure what it does but you got my support.....I think....
Yupp, there will be a website included. We don't have anything made for this yet, so if a good web designer wants to step forward and do this for us please msn me at [email protected] (my PM box is pretty full with things I need...)

Again, regarding the UI (which I think is one of the least important parts of the app anyway), I'm keeping the one found in my first post. If people want other themes, please provide images for them and I'll make it happen.

I won't add a feature to minimize to the tray or anything because it's simply not needed. This control panel only needs to be open when the server is offline and you're adding new content / installing the core or updating it.
