    Can Emulators keep up?

Do you believe emulators can keep up to blizzard with its big team so far i have noticed there are alot of things emulators are being able to program very easily. Like the vehicles and the new wintergrasp and i believe it will not be able to support the new battleground in 3.2 for a long time. What do you think? Can emulators keep up and overcome Blizzards new patches

I personally think that some private cores will stick around on the latest patch. But I think it is doubtful. There are no great C++ developers anymore who are throwing ALL of their work into the public eye, people are getting sick of having to keep up with packet structure, dbc, encryption changes, ect. Also, many people are not knowledgeable enough to keep up the work. Many just don't have the time.

So my vote is no. But a resurgence will defiantly happen at some point though.

Im slightly agreeing with Vindicated, but i think MaNGOS will do the best out of them all.

Emulators have never been able to keep up, and they never will be able to. Blizzard's teams are much stronger and have paid motivated devs. I'm not saying that our emulator teams aren't doing a fabulous job, because they are, just saying that Blizzard has a very large advantage over us that they will always have.

I also believe that MaNGOS will do the best.

Maikash is correct. Servers never have kept up, and they never will. We're always bound to copy Blizzard, and it will always take longer for us to replicate their work than it takes for them to make new stuff.

I believe TrinityCore 2 (MaNGOS branch) will continue to be a superior emulator.

    MaNGOS will continue to be.

80% of trinitys commits are MaNGOS's commits, so it's highly depentant on it.

Emulaters should catch up a lot at 3.2 since there are no major changes that will be hard to overcome like there were in 3.1. There's lots of simple things, like skin changes (sql) and new instance/battleground (which again, doesn't need core work).

Just to clarify (I read that again and realized how it sounds), I mean we'll always be about a patch behind Blizzard.

New battlegrounds DEFINATLY need core work, I'm not sure what you are thinking. And you forgot to mention encryption, dbc, packet structure changes that will happen in 3.2 - All core work.

I don't think so :/ Unless he was being sarcastic multiple times in the multiple places he said that 3.2 would be no problem.

Well what I ment is you can get the server up and running without the new battleground and such, while at 3.1 there was a lot of stuff that was required to get in game.
It should be a lot easier this time round.

Every major patch that i have seen has incorporated alot of packet changes, just by looking at the patch notes i can tell you the the BG system is going through major changes. What blizzard likes to do (which is smart) is when they put new stuff in, they rewrite the older stuff to make it more efficient and what not.

3.2 like 3.1 and every other major content patch before it, will not be a walk in the park

Emulators will never be able to keep up, we can try, but we never will be able to, not even MaNGOS, they still dont have a bunch of stuff working, and blizzard is already gearing up to release 3.2

i agree with this, 3.2 is gonna bring some pretty big shit i bet... It WILL take time to figure out the new changes... packet changes being the worst, since it takes time to figure out what actually changed, and to what it changed to...
