I rather have the big names (in the list theres only 2 of them, who actually do something that take wow emulators forward) working on the open source projects than a server which is build to get money.

I think this could be better for the community than even that though Henkke. If we brought some servers together under an umbrella group it could really help. And I was thinking that servers would want to do this as voting will be pooled under us which means we would get far more votes than most other servers. Making us rise to the top much faster. Just an idea.

What good would it do to community (And i mean wow emulation community, _not_ wow private servers for money community) if project like this would come ?
"Making us rise to the top much faster. Just an idea."
Top of what? xtremetop? How does that benefit wow emulation community, does it improve the code? Does it make necessary changes to support new client version?
    No.

But offcourse if you mean the private server community where its all about who has biggest server and gets the biggest amount of money, you can ignore my sayings since these 2 things are completly different.

I think the only way this would work is if every server was affilated, but still seperate entities except for being part of the overall umbrella.

Server is set, I have it built, all we pay for is collocation, and the Paypal is a verified Business account under a Corporation. So taking the money is pointless, plus a little thing called a dispute.

I already said no Flamming, what do you do, FLAME. You need to look up dungeons and Dragons P.S., they work as a team and under a single realmlist. None of the donations are going to anyones pocket, it will be saved and used to pay for, server bills, software bills, and hardware fixing, and extras like Ventrilo and such. I already have 3 Servers who are in which will bring us to a Population cap of about 2,000 or so.

Also, Hasbro is the last person I would become, we may have the same first name, but 1 thing splits us apart, I am not a greedy stuck up Prick.

    Sounds good intu. Good luck.

Have you got all the world servers at the same data center? Because i expect connecting to same logonserver from different data centers could cause some lag.

Maybe it would be best to create a website, pool voting, pool donations, and create a custom launcher which includes all the realm lists. That way each server maintains some autonomy, but also is a part of this group.

I agree with the doctor a nice website. One huge website to host these realmlists ect. I dont like the idea of everything in one. in usa its called a monopoly. The error in this is people would slack off in the emu world because of no compition. This would in then turn out to make the servers less enjoyable and prices sky high. I mean look we got mangos arc and H.S. right now. What if arc never came to the picture think that magos would have stived for that top of the link WOTLK? Compitions is healthy in a way but i think the way it is now makes for a better end result with low prices and some good servers....

I think that MaNGOS left the others in the dust at WotLK and that Aspire kept up. But with 3.1.1 and still not a great core out from Aspire, I think it is safe to say that MaNGOS has taken the thrown.

However, Arc could easily put itself back in the fight if they would fix a lot of little things in the core that would improve uptime. At least Arc has made an effort to get some new devs, however, doesn't look like much has been done. Hasbro is not 100% with the project as he used to be since he started his server (But who wouldn't be? A server is a lot of work). So Like I said Arc could wrestle its way back into THE GAME but it would take a while to recover.

mangos's progression is not depentant on how many servers it is being used and how well it performs.
"The error in this is people would slack off in the emu world because of no compition. This would in then turn out to make the servers less enjoyable and prices sky high. I mean look we got mangos arc and H.S. right now. What if arc never came to the picture think that magos would have stived for that top of the link WOTLK?"

Not a single mangos dev, or anyone whos made patches to mangos is part of this "project", why would it slow down anything? Mangos had always gone it's own way, as a learning project and not caring about other emulators out there, it doesn't matter is there 100 other emulators or none, it will just go the pace depending how fast developers are developing it.

Yet another person missing the point that competition is healthy as it makes the servers strive to be better and to grow.
