First off, the Age of Conan thing sounds like a possibility. TBC launched right before / right around the time of another LARGE pc game - it couldn't be a coincidence. However, the massive banning spree WAS a coincidence. I haven't got banned, but I have successfully connected to the F+F server, and made a char, got a crashed client, and f*cked over my retail wow (and needed to reinstall.) That is, of course, expectable, considering this;
a) THe full client did not download. The downloader does about 50%, then says "There are no files to download." This has been confirmed when comparing the filesize(s) to someone who had the real F+F. This really is the true leak, however, the explanation is simple. Every single Alpha F+F key has been registered and the linked accounts logged in at least once, reported Blizzard. This caused them to shut down their fileservers for the torrent-themed Downloader, such causing the downloader to stop functioning properly.
As for there is "nothing on these servers", that might be right. But again, that is becxause you don't / won't have the full client. The MPQ's and DBC, on the other hand, are extremely handy, and will give emulator developers a head start. As for the "sandbox vs PS" thing, the idea of a Sandbox shouldn't be too hard, but to create a FULL stable server = uh uh.
As well, making repacks is just plain stupid. -.-
