teach the leechers how to do shit and they won't need to leech.... but like that guy said. busy work is a great alternative.

We don't need to help leechers learn anything more than what is already available in multiple forums. If someone wants to learn LUA, like me, just direct them to SectorSeven's LUA Scripting 101 thread. All the information leechers need to do something is right in front of us.
In my eyes, there are lazy leechers and there are temporary leechers. The lazy ones are the ones who claim they can't do anything to contribute, and the temporary ones are the ones who are working to get out of it. Oh, and there are also leeching leechers: those who leech threads and make it their own to try to get out of leecher status using the lazy leecher's excuse.
I am now sick of the word leecher.
having a teacher is a hundred times better then just reading plain text. although both are viable methods of learning something.
I see what you're saying. I would think that the tutorial's poster would answer questions from within the post... but to some that might not be enough. It's a start, though.
The best course for learning is repetitive practice. The busy work -- although dull and mundane -- would teach leechers the basics needed to have a good foundation in the subject. From there, a teacher is usually not needed, as the person has enough basic knowledge to build from it himself. For example, I began learning by doing b***h work for my devs. I didn't like it, but it made reading SectorSeven's tut 50x easier. Granted, I am still lobbying a question in his thread about something I have not yet learned, it is I who is taking the initiative to learn, not the teacher.

Haha appreciate it. But yeah I'm planning on do Advanced LUA with like math.random and stuff and maybe even XML tut
Well despite what others may think, there are people out there that think the same way nightmare does. We've started creating a group that will soon release it's first submission to the community, and no, we won't tell everyone the name of it, some have been contacted, and those who have are under binds with us to remain silent about it. It will have cores, databases, and a lot more to it, with a complete community of servers, so if that seems like your kind of thing, you're more than welcome to contribute your part, and get something together before our public release. We don't ask for complete pro's, but a good knowledge of what you'd like to do would be a HUGE plus.
Nightmare has the right idea. If we pull together then we will be able to replace Burlex and his constantly irritating ways. That's why me Dracconus, and a few others started our project and many others recognize the possibilites of it. Yea, so if any of you also are thinking the same as us then let us know. We are welcoming anyone with moderate knowledge in an attempt to bring together the community.
Haha LUA is very useful and what if you arn't scripting a boss, but a custom mob. You can't just go ask Moon++ to do.
Well I'm not going to be able to join you. Good luck! Just make sure that if you use ABD material you ask for permission from an admin.
What I keep seeing is what akenatehm just posted..
"...started our own project..."
If we are to unite, why keep making new projects? The answer is simple. The different projects want to be the ones who lead the main project. In other words, the leaders don't want to give up being the leader. It is an obvious outcome, really. Instead of joining one of the already run projects, you go and start your own.
Disclaimer:
I am not in any way attacking you, I merely used you for example.
edit: Thank you, SectorSeven and Le Froid for the rep, it was very kind. But I didn't do anything... so until I submit my own work, I am still a leecher.

We do intend for this to become a major project. With at around 20 staff I think I am safe in saying that we will come close to what we predict.
Np Nightmare. Might you consider joining with us?
Anyway guys, stop getting me to talk. We are under restrictions to disclose as many details as possible.

well, Aken was only posting about the project to let people know it's out there, since the recruiting thread gains like NO views, it's easier to say we're doing it, get people's attention, and have them add us on msn, and pm us here. Aken and I are working on the same team with about...1-20 other people.
And, no offense taken, we understand what you mean. Dont' worry, we're not immature.
