In actual fact, Ascent have done nothing illegall, all they do is provide tools and what anyone does with them is at their own legal obligation.

WoW Emulating is quite illegal because it does state in the ToC that reverse engineer or modify the game files.

Who cares anyway, stuff it. This is fun and it gives Blizzard (The Greedy A Holes) a tiny bit more space in its bank.

Woah! Didn't know I'd trigger such a huge conversation... Anyway; uhm, its not about legal or illegal, but I was always under the impression Blizzard had a "well most private server users also use our pay-to-play servers" view on most Emu. Server users. True or not, who knows. Anyway, thanks for the advice!

1. Yeah, thats if you run the client at all. Who says you ever even ran it? There are ways around signing it anyway, u can delete some file in ur WTF folder forgot its name.
2. You still are not editing the game or client side files. Those all are purely server side.

You are editing the game files and even changing your realmlist file is editing the game files.

Well, I got Navicat Lite working, and the databases were uploaded (I think, the program just kinda stalled out so I figured it was done) but just past connecting and trying to make a new character who isn't a Female Blood Elven Paladin, I get disconnected from my server w/o fail!!! Anyone know how to fix this?

Try looking through your AScent or Database directories for Character Fixes. There may be something in there.

hosting a server and emulating a server while both explicitly not allowed by the ToS can't really get you sued because then you could get sued for anything that would break it.

the way i see it, is that even though what we are doing is against blizzards policy its not against any actual law. it doesn't seem logical to make something illegal just because it breaks a games rules.

i thought i already went over this O.o

also seta navicat has nothing to do with you getting dc'd. i would check to make sure your config files are done properly and that you have enough memory to run wow the internet and a private server at the same time.

other issues might be your using an outdated database or you might have screwed up the tbc thing somehow

EDIT: You do need to run ascent-realmserver.exe along w/ -logonserver & -world, correct? Because I'm able to log onto and view the Admin char w/o that app. running... o_O

You don't need to start up Ascent realmserver.exe.

You never ever ever ever need to touch realmserver.exe Might as well delete it right now.
