And the answer to your question is: They clashed together! AC Web MySQL and MySQL 5 clashed as they both ran!

actually it wasn't even that..
after I woke up this moring i took another look.

the MY.INF file in the mysql directory still had the AC Repck pathname as well did apache/conf/httpd.conf files

so when it ran it looked in those dirs instead of my new dir.

I simply changed the paths in those files to my current dir and it took care of the issue. :-)
