LOTRO AutoFace Tool

Hey Guys,

I am new to the forum and I have looked around for a bit but could find nothing on this topic. I am currently playing Lord of the Rings online. As you know most MMO's these days lack and autoface function......LOTRO is no Different. I am looking for some information as to what I would need to create this type of tool. I am aware that reading memory would be a must however I am unclear as to where to begin. I have read up on this forum here and I see a lot of post regarding wow etc. Browsing through I cannot find a foothold to get started. Is there a specific line of code that is used for memory reading or is there some type of program I will need. I want to write this tool in .net if possible because its something that I would like to explore. Currently there is a free bot for lotro that works and autofaces monsters so I am quite sure it can be done. Sorry if I am barking up the wrong tree.

Your best bet is to find the function that the game calls when you change your facing direction, and call it.

Im not trying to be douche or anything, but isnt this the WoW Mem Edit section, and afaik a WoW Mem Edit section would be for WoW Mem Editing only. If not then why is it it in the WoW section?

Anyway back to topic:
1) do you know a programming language? if no put the idea out of your head untill you've learned one because you'll need quite a lot of programming knowledge todo memory reading/writing without being spoonfeeded
2) do you know how to reverse engineer? if no then this might be a good starting point for you: Tuts 4 You: Downloads / Lenas Reversing for Newbies
3) have you spend +4 weeks searching and reading this section? if no then do it because believe it or not but A LOT of the posts here will probably end up being usefull to you in one way or another...
4) if you've completed the 3 tasks above you wouldn't even need me to tell you to search for a dll release called blackMagic here on the fourms...

I would not say that im "acting like a moderator" in my posts, but if that is your impression then there is no reason for me to argue about that.

And what you are basically saying is that i am not allowed to post in this section if I have not contributed anything to this forum?

I suggest you take a closer look on the people who post in this section, I see many leechers who have not contributed anything outside this section but that doesnt mean that they aren't allowed to post here.

Judging a person's intelligence by how much he has contributed to the forum is not fair assumption in my opinion.

You are so very inexperienced with the forum that you should not tell people what to do nor should you flame them for making a mistake seeing as you will probably make one in the near future.

In other words, its not your call. Once you contribute a little more maybe you can start to tell people what they should or shouldnt do. But try and leave that to the mods... thats why they are here.

YOU still judged the OP's actions as a mod would do which isn't part of your rights to do plus you clearly haven't been hanging around here for long enough because there's PLENTY of legit threads here about other games than wow... Also i suggest you read the section rules because nothing there says that non wow related reversing is prohibited...

While I agree that this is the right place to post asking for help with creating such programs for other games besides WoW, the OP might not be ready to use this forum.
First because his post is a too high level request for assistance; not the kind of post that usually receives help here.
Second, LotRO does have a kind of autoface function. Enter Options, Combat Options, and turn on "Enable movement assistance in combat"; this will make ranged characters automatically face their targets, and melee characters walk up to their targets (which means taking a few steps backwards will make them turn to their targets and walk back to melee range). A simple autoface is mostly unneeded in LotRO.
