Nice release man. How is Sub looking in 5.4? Haven't been following the PvE side as closely lately.

Specific spells of Subtlety 5.4 are clearly up:

Backstab now deals 380% weapon damage (up from 275%).
Hemorrhage now deals 160% weapons damage (up from 140%); 232% weapons damage if a dagger is equipped (up from 203% for daggers).
Sanguinary Vein now increases damage against targets with bleed effects by 25% (up from 20%).

I think everything will depend on the difficulty of being behind the boss, because the DPS must be present!
I tried many encounter in Subtlety (8/14) and none on me cause this difficulty we have in Throne of Thunder. The placement is not difficult, it's really good news.
Personally, I have more dps with Subtlety on the PTR, but I don't have the last "update" of my official character because I have already used all copies .. so it remains to be seen.
The 4T16 is very good, despite its nerf (Old version: Ambush replace Backstab after 4 Backstab, no need stealthing)

Gonna bet that sub will still not be viable. that is, no one will use it for serious guild progression, though it may become a bit more popular for fun or casual raiding. the buffs don't do anything to address the actual issues. and by the way as for buffs: the other two specs are also buffed AND the evisc nerf hurts sub the most... so not sure yet is relatively speaking there is any change in the three specs power rankings.

The problem with sub is not that damage modifiers are too low... even now if you park behind a target dummy sub will do VERY well, probably better dps than combat and very close to mutilate. Trouble is, the moment you step into a raid it's horrific, and there is nothing you can do about it. The same boss you are doing 250,000K on as mutilate or combat you'll do 150K next week as sub, it's just ridiculous. that's the cold hard truth and i dont see why 5.4 bosses will be much different

Reason is, huge penalties for positioning (and every goddam boss spins around every 5 sec it seems), bad burst (again ruined by bosses turning during dance), NO cleave or AOE, no execute, poor ability to switch targets, lots of other stuff like the weird SD / SB interaction. obviously the rotation is more difficult with more finishers to manage and lots of managing energy pooling, find weakness & vanish, etc. I'm not aware of any rogue in any top guild can't do MUCH higher dps on any boss (and with a lot less effort) just by switching from sub to assassination, same gear same raid comp same assignments. and that means it's not viable.

Personally I enjoyed Sub a few times this tier because you end the raid with like ten top 10s on WoL and a few world firsts just silly fun.

Go at SoO on the PTR, Subtlety is viable.
Why many rogues play Sub (including me) on the PTR if it's not viable?
The damages in Sub not hugely differ Assassination.

Subtlety is not for "new rogues", it requires a minimum of experience.
In short, please don't talk without knowing.

If an ability of the boss, even if it turns on itself (Twins Consort for example) you consider to be behind him.

ShadowStep exist for this situation..
(Taking a brained tank , it is also a solution)

NO cleave or AOE

1.Set rupture on all mobs.
2.Continued to dps the boss for CPs
3.Use CT at 5CP.
You want already a cleave/AOE ?
It's not a very big AoE, but we can not have everything..

The principle of this profile (and this thread) is not to be the biggest rogue dps , but offer at players a specialization that is fun and competitive .

Assassination: Play to Wait
Combat: Play to Spam
Subtlety: Play to Fun

The pleasure is expensive, here it costs only ~20k dps

To 5.4 anticipate approximately 525ilvl for firsts (6 or 7 / 14) boss to SoO. And it's (I think) to have the minimum for Subtlety is really profitable.

I have test the profile on Paragons of Klaxxi (5.4 PTR Siege of Orgrimmar Raid) it's okay but he need one edit (Add "Blood" in SpecialAggro of data)
