Question for any skilled destruction warlock out there.

i am relatively new to destro myself and am wondering about stat priorities at my ilvl. i am 501 ilvl right now. What has shown to produce more dps for me is making Crit my #1 secondary stat followed by mastery then haste. On a training dummy with a flask and pre-potting I can burst around 110k and can maintain by cycling dark soul and focus/havoc on a 2nd dummy 90-92k. Anyone have any target %'s for each stat I should be shooting for?

I have armory'd all of the top destro locks on my realm and most seem to be stacking mastery over anything and then haste w/ crit sprinkled in. I however lose dps when I stack mastery and haste. Moreso with stacking mastery. I am using grim of service.

Does this seem low or am I were I should be? On horridon last night I was only holding around 105k throughout the fight. I personally expect much higher than that, since with my Hunter at the same ilvl I can hold 120-140k throughout.

I have lined up my stats lie that, with Mastery, haste, and crit being my priority. I always seem to lose dps if I sacrifice crit for anything.

i tested your modifications to the destro profile. Only thing i noticed was it will periodically stop casting anything but RoF. I have to manually cast CoE or immolate to kick it in the rear. In a 10 minute dummy trial it would stop twice. I did not however notice what the last thing it did was when it stopped. Sorry.

ok thanks, ill take a look into it and leave it running for longer. I suspect its getting to the end of the profile and cant work out what to cast

Edit : Just ran it for a full 12 mins and didnt lock up once, ill try a longer test to check it some more

I swear it did!

If it matters, I had a dummy focus targeted and was attacking another. So i could use havoc as well.

random bug here if anyone can throw some light on it, Jin'Rokh the Breaker in ToT. Rain of Fire works when stood inwater, but freezes rotation when not in one ?

I'll send you my update tonight with the list of things ive tinkered with and you can see what you want to include in the official profile and what needs throwing in the bin

So I did some more testing Mav. It did stop on me once more but, i was unable to reproduce it again after that one time.

I also did, and this is for my own personal verification, find a "sweet spot" for my destro stat priority and talent selection. I ran a baseline 2:30 second test that consisted of pre-pot, cast CoE to start the rotation, let it build max embers and then press left alt to pop DS and Blood fury. My test was complete as soon as DS and blood fury were off CD. I did not use Summon DG or anything else.

This was done on a single raiders training dummy, and I did NOT use RoF, or a focus target (havoc) on any of my tests. Since it will hit more than one and I wanted a good solid baseline single target dps #. I did this rotation with Mastery/Haste/Crit and Crit/mastery/haste as a stat priority, and switched between the 3 lvl 75 talents. Grim of sup/ser/sac.

Bottom line:

I did each stat/talent config test twice.

Mastery/Haste/crit looks to be the better stat structure, and hands down Grim/Supremacy trumps all others. I will add one thing though. Do not neglect your crit. i would still try and keep it up with haste if possible.


What i ended up with, and this is the part i would like some comments on, is this:

Mastery/haste/crit Grim of Sup:

Dps would climb to roughly 72k before I had 3 embers built up, after popping DS and blood fury I would spike upto roughly 95-99k dps and at the time of DS and BF getting off CD, my dps was at 84k

All other configs were either a little lower, or ALOT lower. Grim of Sacrifice being the worst, no matter what my stat priority was.



I did also do with this config a full on, havoc, focus target, extended ranged RoF talent (cant remember name) pour it on, pop anything and everything test of the same length, and bursted upto 138k and settled at 104k after 2:30.


So what do you think of the #'s???

Would really like to hear from someone about my dps #'s..... I really have no idea what kind of dps I should be pulling at 501 destro. I am the only lock on my raid team, and the only one that raids in my guild..... not much to compare to.

I was flasked and used a pre-pot (only one potion throughout the test) only no feast....dont really know why I didnt eat but, I didnt. And yes only on raiding dummy. Single target and no RoF for my test.
