The only problem with this is:
It would only likely work once (twice if you're lucky).
An example of your method (correct me if I'm wrong):
You play for a week on computer A on a different internet connection (most likely a friend's connection if you don't want to pay for two connections). After the week is up, You bot on computer B, which is most likely your own computer/connection, because one should keep an eye on it from time-to-time (plus, I doubt a friend would want to use one of his computers to bot constantly, and to have to change profiles, etc.). The GM spots you and pulls out the ban hammer, 1-hit ko. You email Blizz on another connection (emails contain IP information). You say "OMG! My account got hacked!" You give them the appropriate information and they verify it. Most likely, Blizz is going to keep a close eye on you and your account for a little while (especially if you claimed that you were hacked right after you got banned). If they see you connect on your current IP, they are going to know something is up. Also, remember that packets contain mac address information as well. So they'll know it's you (unless you bought a new network card or spoofed your current mac address; keep in mind that not only does you computer have a mac address, your router AND modem does as well). Even if you do spoof your mac address, you still have the problem with the IP address. I mean, if it's a dynamic IP address (like most are), then it will change after you unplug the modem/router. But if your friend's IP is from a different ISP, then you'll have no chance. However, if your friend lives nearby and you share the same ISP, maybe. Just remember that mac addresses are unique though. And with most setups, you have a modem, router, and network card which have mac addresses.
As to which mac addresses the server sees (just one or all) I'm not for sure. Still learning about networking.
Basically, if you decide to bot, just take every precaution: stay close to the computer (if possible), avoid both factions if AFK, and follow the sticky guide. Other than that, there's not much more I think one can do.
2 dif computers with 2 dif internet ips
play on one with a dif ip then ur botting 1 use
IP Chicken - Whats my IP address? ip address lookup to check if there dif then bot on the other this works better if you have 2 diffrent internet providers but will cost more for 2 sellers like shaw and telus
or just get a bro friend etc. and the my bro or dad was botting will prob nto work alot #1 they shouldent be on says blizz #2 still botting =(. etc
By using a bot, you pretty much already know that it is possible to get banned. Just keep the mindset of not caring if you get banned, and you'll have no worries.
Also, can someone tell me if you transfer a character that just reached 70 to another account (after having botted), can the new account get banned (even though it has never touched a bot)?
Edit: I actually think the server sees all mac addresses, mainly because the packet information is wrapped around the packet each time it goes through a device. This is how it works (or so I believe...CORRECT ME if I'm wrong):
(Modem IP/mac address(Router IP/mac address(Computer IP/mac address(Data))))
I think it looks like that ^^^^ a capsule with data in the center. So when the server get this packet, it strips it down to the data. Ugh...if only I still had that Networking+ book by Mike Myers!
