No I don't think they are spying on us... although data collection seems to be a theme of the day.
I remember how a few years ago some guy found out that screenshots you took in-game had some kind of embedded ID via which blizzard could identify which account it came from and it clearly seemed to have been put in place for security/hack/exploit related reasons but people were crying havoc back then as well. Nothing came of it...
