Thank you for posting this. Donation servers are outright stupid. Donations are suppose to be donations not purchases. You don't go into best buy and donate money to get the T.V you buy it. You don't donate to get items you buy it. Donations are ment toi be from people who appreciate your work and DONATING money to help keep the server up and not expecting an item for it.

i agree with this blog, but i disagree with what many people are saying about donations, i believe that there should be rewards for donations, but ones that do not unbalance PVP or Raiding, like a guild house, because sadly, most people won't pay/donate money to a server if they don't get anything out of it, sure it helps keep the sever up, but most people would just think that "others are donating, the server will be fine". hell, not many people would donate to charity for a good cause, so how many people do you think would donate money to a private server when they are not getting anything that they would have without paying.

^ I agree with this guy. Tbh, I wouldn't donate if I didn't get something extra. But I wouldn't donate to become imba and such (I hate those guys).
There should be a little reward like a vanity pet or a morph spell, etc.

I agree with the idea. I find it, however, pure hypocrisy that Hellgawd dares even posting such things :-).

"NEVER LET YOUR SERVER DRAG YOU INTO REAL LIFE DEBT. EMULATED SERVERS ARE A HOBBY, NOT A LIFE."

Actually no, well for some people running a server is a hobby. To others though its a business where you either gain alot of money or lose alot.

it is anything but a business because you shouldn't be taking any of the money the server makes

If you made your own emulator, hosted a server, fixed it up, spent all your time on it, etc. and had plenty of donations to fund for the best hosting services, developers, web site, bandwidth, and other services, you wouldn't use the excess donations for your own use?
