Should I continue leveling?

I'm level 33 currently. have a dragonite thats 2700+ and it constantly gets rekt by people lower than 25. After level 30 does leveling matter? What could I be doing wrong? I figured my pokemon would be unbeatable for anyone under 29. I was sadly mistaken. Seem our character level doesn't really matter after 20. My only experience is in the gameboy games, where a high level pokemon could destroy a gym solo. What determines overpoweredness in this game?

Is there some trick to it or is it random luck? all my gym pokemon are 90% perfect or higher. Sadly nothing fancy though besides the dragonite. It's like a 97% spearow, a 91% Pincer, a 95% polygon and a 92% dragonite. Every thing else is 80'ish percent or lower. I have yet to find anything 100% perfect. Do you have a method of searching them out?

Ur pokemon isnt weak it just cant handle 6 vs 1.

If u deffending a gym alone u can get rekt even at lvl 40 easy.

Thats how gyms work! U need mates to help u defend the gym!

Even 10 ppl in the gym with maxed pokemons can be pwned. Thats how it works.

Playing gyms mean that you are standing near them and fighting with others all the time, nor that you just take over a gym and voila you can back there next day and take ur rewards.

After 30, the levels doesn't really matter.
The gym system is garbage, you will keep getting rekt.

You probable lose because you have a shitty moveset. What do you have?

I think the whole gym battle is flawed and probably needs some re-work. All it takes is someone with a lot of potion/revive and time. You just sit there and beat the weak ones till the gym prestige falls. Once it gets 6vs3, then the gym eventually will be taken over.
