Require Viewers to join the forum.

Simply stated I think it COULD be an idea to apply to our forums. Anyone who wants to view a thread in any sub forum, especially Exploits/Hacks/Bots posted here on OwnedCore, could be required to JOIN the forums before gaining access to this information. Why?

    Pro's:
    • Boost in posts/activity if lurkers/viewers are required to take action to view this information. Regardless if they create an account just to view such threads, if gives a higher percentage of a member posting to the forum to become apart of the community.

    • Removes the amount of people who simply hop on our forums without signing up to find out information on everything we post here. There is nothing stopping anyone from taking away information posted for members solely of our community & posting on another forum, sharing this information, or simply copy & posting elsewhere.

    • This gives a lot of incentive for everyone to join in our community Vs. lurking for whatever information they can leech. This also allows members to see that we offer "Elite" forums for those who seek more in-depth information & help with their game of choice.

    • - Why not require everyone to join? (This question I pose because I do not have an answer to this question myself. Is there any harm in doing so? If so, please share this information. This is simply a suggestion, & I have no knowledge of how this could negatively impact the forums.)

    Con's:

    • Seeking input from other members.

If someone is actively looking for exploits for a game, having to register to a website is not going to deter them very much, if at all. I know before I came across Ownedcore when looking for exploits on different sites I wouldn't mind registering if the thread titles caught my attention, or even if it was a reputable exploiting site (which Ownedcore clearly is).
Another con you don't mention is that we could definitely lose a lot of members if we restrict it to only registered users being able to view threads. The person who gets on OC as a guest and sees an awesome exploit might then register and be an active part of the communtiy after discovering this site has a lot to offer. However, if that person was forced to register, (s)he might just give up and never look back.
Also, it's not like every exploit is able to be seen as a guest. That's the reason we have the Elite Exploit section, where not only do you have to register but you also have to be a donator/contributor. And even if you counter that with the "well everyone can just buy access", that's why we have the Elite/Legendary sections, where you have to get 325/600 rep points to even be able to access.

Also, just to touch base on your pro list:
    1) As mentioned above, not necessarily. A person might be turned away from the site if they are forced to register, rather than registering and being an active community member. Using myself as an example, I lurked here for a year or so before making an account because I had gained so much from exploits on Ownedcore I wanted to give back with my own knowledge. However, if I would have been forced to register, I may not have been here typing this today.
    2) Pretty much the same exact point as above.
    3) I disagree. Being forced to register to view exploits has always left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I think it's kind of stupid and just an arbitrary system to gain members. I have never significantly contributed to a website where I was forced to register to view exploits.
    4) Already answered.

agree wif phantom. indeed, it would turn away alot of pp if the forum is private and only viewable by registered members.

Links, pictures and spoilers are not displayed unless you're registered. Make a point to include vital information in one of those 3 and you have exactly what you're looking for. We leave it up to the users posting content to take the decision of who they want to share their information to.

I would agree to the first part of your answer including the fact that registering isn't going to stop someone from making an account. I have been using exploits/hacks/bots on several MMO's throughout my years, as well as played legit on many games as well. One thing that I think OwnedCore does offer is a wide variety of games that we give out a lot of information for. I think it's a bit of an opinion to sway one way or another on this topic though. Again it was just a suggestion to consider. If the idea of letting whomever wishes to see what we have to offer is the concept that OwnedCore see's fit, I don't see any purpose in changing what is already in place. There's no point in creating a problem if one doesn't exist.

I just wanted a bit of an idea as to what OwnedCore is. I noticed that it isn't the most popular forum (I've been apart of several, from less populated to much more active) & this feedback gives a bit of insight. Coming from someone who posts in a non-active Sub-Forum currently (ESO) it's hard to find motivation to post exploits/ideas to a community that doesn't exist. It's almost dissatisfying posting to a Sub-Forum in which more people are lurking for what I have to offer than actual members of the community. Regardless, thanks for the input. I've been apart of both sides of this fence where forums required not only members to join, but a certain post count & reputation in order to even see what the forum had to offer, to forums exactly like OwnedCore. Thank you for the input.

Edit: The reasoning behind this post was just an idea that I have seen elsewhere that I have seen work. However I will admit I am only at a perspective of a Sub-Forum of this community which doesn't give me an entirety to see from others perspectives as what's best for the forum. I can assure you that my intentions are only to create a positive impact on OwnedCore & nothing less. However with the information posted I can completely see that it may not be the answer for this forum. However, I think that my intentions could be directed in a more purposeful manner by trying to accommodate the ESO Sub-Forum & create a bigger community. I will spend tomorrow & the next couple weeks brainstorming concepts of how this can be done. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas for this, I would be willing to put-forth the effort, please feel free to contact me on here by posting or through PM. Again, thank you for the feedback on this thread.

Requiring someone to register in order to view threads will not increase the amount of activity on the forums or make people post more. It will do the opposite. Any deterrent to the access of the forums will only result in less activity on the forums. Even if you force every guest to register they are still just as likely not to post, the only thing you achieve in this instance is having less people view the content; this makes the total number of likely posters decrease.

The lack of activity in certain sub-forums of this site is certainly a problem but the solution is not requiring users to register in order to view content. I do not propose to have a solution for that problem but I can state with certainty that lack of involvement stimulates isolation and the best thing you can do as a user to increase the activity of your favorite sub-forums is to post and create threads in them; no matter how inane.
