Shout Out ads discussion

Hey guys,

The idea of the shout ads is great. I just think it can be improved... Instead of putting it above the Shoutbawx:


Put in the Shoutbawx like the notices:


It's just my opinion though.

Anyone else have any improvements or thoughts about the system?

Well you could make a solution for that:

Make a special bawx channel for people who can't see the normal one. Where the ad is displayed and for people who can see the main channel a merge of those channels.

That would force us to show the entire design of the bawks (a whopping 300px in height) just to show something that we're currently able to show in a small bar. Maybe your solution isn't perfect but I definitely do see the benefit of a small redesign.

As far as I recall you can just change the height of the bawx, shouldn't be that hard IMO.

We can't do that based on the user. It's a site-wide thing we'd have to do.

I second this.. Having ads in shoutbawx will just be annoying and before you know it we will be selling stickies too(we will not).. No thank you!

I like this feature ONLY because I am working towards elite/legendary.
Otherwise..
Seems a little bit like a coin waster and I'm definitely not going to surpass 50 coins unless there's some kind of miracle because I'm gonna keep buying these...still 5 minutes is NOTHING and a red thread is much more useful in terms of grabbing attention, not to mention not everybody can see the shoutbox.

Still, I like it. Maybe lower the price, maybe extend the times, or maybe it a BANNER TEXT AD (so adblock doesnt block it) sitewide instead of just for the box. Until I become legendary that is :P jk. It is kind of annoying but I see why it's here.

I agree. I still don't think its going to create popularity for threads that are duds. The huge exploits and whatever, advertised are not, are still going to be the ones that rise to the top....advertising only dictates how quickly.

The shoutout ad system was made with trade section in mind.
