A section for theories and collaborative efforts

I think votes only is the best option. If for only contribs+ only it will just turn out like the sticky in elite that got corrupted.
Also, I have a feeling lots of leechers will vote for "should be public" so maybe it's a good idea to post the poll in contrib+ section?

yet, most of the posts where people actually discussed the exploit and possibilities for it, was leechers. Dont know what sticky in elite you are talkng about.

I don't really understand the line of thinking for invite only. What would get someone an invite to the section? It certainly wouldn't be their aptitude for exploiting. That is not measurable. Sometimes the worst exploiter in the world could find a way to expand on something, solely due to the fresh perspective. It would not be healthy for the section to cherry pick the people you think are "good exploiters." Every single person here has different knowledge about the inner workings of WoW, and a different skillset that just might be the key you need to make a theory a reality.

The best and smartest exploiter I ever worked with was a leecher.

Their contributions? Probably not. Most likely it would be a "know the right people" kind of thing. There are plenty of leechers here that I'm sure are better exploiters than I or anyone other contributor+ here. Of course them being leechers and all might lead one to believe they wouldn't share, but a few might take an opportunity like that as their moment to shine.

I do believe 100% public is the way to go. Invite only defeats the entire purpose of a section like this. So will making it elite and up or whatever other way people want access limited.

Not a bad idea but unfortunately it's probably a whole lot more work than the site admins intend to put into this. In the end it's almost certainly going to end up being one of the poll options.

Yeah, too much work, unless there is a plugin for this already and it wont corrupt any of our other plugins.

I would love to have a thread for public and for everybody to see and discuss about it. As i see a lot of leechers and donators come up with great theories and great potential. Like stuff they saw someone do and screenshotted. That we can do testing on, a lot of exploits i have been doing are from theories i see people post or find new ways after blizz hotfixes something as 80% of the time it still works you just have to do them differently. I would like to see a change that once a theories goes well. That people got an option to vote for the theories like now with polls. That if 5/10 people vote *Move* that it should get moved and end in wow elite section or in contributor section. For further testing if op does not want that we should respect that and move it back to public and not the other way around.

At the moment i seen some nice exploits/theories posted and took me a while to contact op to get his permission to get it moved to elite section. And because of that, the exploit has been for too long in public and once it's moved to elite other people will make new thread in public again about the exploit or show up on other forums. Don't want to give the moderators too much work to add the poll for exploit section too that we can vote on. But the theories thread should have that and not stay out there for too long just because we can't contact op.

For the mods should be easy to set something up like that. As you just add poll to theories section and make it auto move once it reaches the ammount of votes it needs. So we can discuss the exploit further without the worries that it is for too long in public and forcing a hotfix on the exploit.

And as rule for that section i would force for infractions as when i just started posting stuff on ownedcore i got scared to post anything as people attack you pretty fast with comments as useless post etc. And almost made me stop post anything on ownedcore as the things i posted once i worked them out better, had great potential. And i deleted a lot of them once i got blown off here. So would love to see once a theorie gets posted that people don't post stuff with useless. Only comments of your way of view on how did this theorie benefited you and how did you use it for further testing and what more ideas you got.

And not sure if it is possible to set up something like this. That the people who commented on the theory are possible to see it too once it gets moved and not just the op. Or else would be unfair if it was the leecher who came up with the idea to work it out better.

And why not have two one in public and one in elite/contributor section. Once a theory goes well it ends up in the section where it is kept save from public? And if you think you got a good theory you can post it in the section where it is not in public.

Just my 2 cents and i agree would love a theories section

Edit: And maybe something to get the leechers involved too that who saw the thread before it got moved and had ideas of their own to make them possible to write in the thread too. Without seeing the comments of that thread ofcourse so he got a chance to get invited to the thread to join the rest of us with discussion about the theory. Just some wild ideas and not sure if this one is possible.

I can think of at least once that the entire community could have had some great things brewing had I been allowed to post my "theories"

I for one am notorious for finding cool stuff but not being able to complete the last step of it etc

and yes it will make things more prone to getting "leeched" but keeping it contrib/donor would prevent that just as much as the elite exploits section does.... and to be entirely honest WHAT is an exploit site if not to share these types of things?

I think it should be its own section in the elite exploits forum though TBH.... that will keep is mildly hidden, but still accessible to new members who just got granted access and might have an input

I don't like the idea that evry contrib/donator+ should see it... I don't even like the idea that legendary+ should.. :s If you find a great exploit and post it, there will be people sharing the exploits and in the end, there will be thousands of people that doesn't even have a ownedcore account that will use them which will lead to a fast hotfix.
I like the idea of a section where evryone could post, and the poster should be able to see his own post and all the comments below as a reward and motivation for posting the theory section. No one else except the invited members to the theory group should be able to see all of the posts and discuss about them.
As you said, donators do come with really nifty things sometimes, even new members without donator do! I think we should have a new reputation system for the theory section only that only the members of the theory group can give out. With this low repped users which contribute to the theory section will be able to get into the theory group. The group will slowly become bigger and there will (hopefully) only be trusted members in it. Maybe a theory section reputation decay would be good? To prevent people from getting into the group and then lurking the forums at the same rep without ever posting anything.
Right now I'm afraid to post any of my unfinished exploits because I know they'll get fixed before they are finished...

come on guys, no, we wont go to lengths to create such a section.. NATURALLY a new reputation will not be added for it.
the reason for such a section would not be to keep the exploits secret, it would be to discuss potential uses for glitches and then to release when it is solved through collaborate efforts. (if it is invite only)

It is not and that is how it is - this site is not a democracy, you know that If you want a section for no donators, use contributors discussions. No new sections will be for "contrib, elite, and legendary only"

I just feel that one of the biggest security holes in this site is that a credit card can buy you in to take content. perhaps we should just all start using the contrib only forum for things. *shrug*

or elite, or legendary, but then you wont be able to see it. enough on that subject as that is not the thread for it

Invite only. People cannot see the posts in theory section except for their own posts. People will be motivated to post so that they can get bigger exploits of the ones they don't know what to do with.
People that post and prove worthy may get invites in to the group that can see the section. I could hand out invites if you cba KuR, or maybe Bossqwerty or anyone else into exploits. The OP should be the one to judge if the exploit should be posted into public or not. I don't care about rep so that shouldn't be a problem, I don't know about the others though. : /

Maybe just set it up like WoW exploits/elite exploits. A public section and a more "secure" sub-section. Invite only or whatever makes people happy. I imagine all of the real work would be done in the public section though.
