get tougher on necrobumps

in the past 2 or 3 weeks there seems to have been a lot of people who keep necro-ing old threads and bumping them, regardless to the usefulness or validity of the issue at hand.


i'd like to suggest tougher measures on necrobumping (for the person who necrobumps, not the posts after that)

what i would suggest is:

One necrobump = a warning.

Two = Week long bawx and posting ban.

three = one week full ban (aka cant view or post anything in any forum)


(really, my suspicious mind wonders why there has been such a rash of necro-ing on random subjects recently. i find it odd.)

Not possible without doing a real ban from the forums.

the thing is that we dont allow reposts. So if someone finds a thread that they have a question to, shouldnt they be able to ask the question even if the thread is quite old?

I'm kind of varied on this.
On one hand, I think that necro bumping shouldn't be allowed at all
On the other hand, I agree with what KuR said, they should be allowed to "necro post" if they have a question.


Maybe have it so where if its been 1-3 months since the last reply, then people should be able to post whatever they want in that thread, as long as it's not spam. But, if it's 4-12 months since the last reply, people should ONLY be able to ask a question pertaining to the original post and answer questions (MUST have question quoted), if it's a useless post, give infractions. And of course, if it's over a year old, no posting allowed, at all.

At this point, I feel like this is more of a discussion than a suggestion. It seems like all this is already covered, unless I'm blind and don't see any necro'd threads lol.

Pretty much how it is Phantom. It's just that only a few mods have entire access to all sections, sometimes the one person to clean up offtopic isn't on for a bit due to IRL. However it still gets looked into and judged.
