    Some Needed Tune Ups

    To whom it may concern,

    Hello I recently started using your awesome forums and I'm thoroughly enjoying the vast amount of content displayed here, although I have several concerns that I feel should be brought up, if they haven't already.

    1. Your General release section is HUGE, which makes making sub forums a bit of a task, but I think it's time you made a separate thread for General Releases and added the appropriate sub forums IE: Trinity, Mangos, ArcEmu, C++, Lua. It would make navigation for new comers 100% easier and it would make your forums that much better.

    2. Improving your search engine, when I do a search for [C++] C++, I get 0 returns even if I do an advanced search, not sure what's causing this but I know there is several 100 posts with this either in the topic name or in the post.

    Also the search types need to be adjusted, you shouldn't have to search the entire forum to get a return from something only needed to be searched in General Releases. Solution: Add sub forums to search type options. It would be nice if I could do search for a prefix in a forum like General Releases,[C++] and get a return with relevance.

    3. Hire a team specifically dedicated to sorting all releases for new sub forums and they could probably do them all in a few weeks.

    Sorry if this was a bit blunt, but this is one of the best resource sites on the web, but the forum navigation is very sloppy and I think if you hired more dedicated staff (as I think this is the reason these problems exist, due to under-staffing) things could improve tremendously.

    Also take note I'm new here and if there are solutions to these problems I'm having feel free to offer advice for better forum navigation.

    Probably easier to, if they implent subsections for releases, to just manually move the first 1-2 pages and ignore the older posts, because mods are (unpaid) people as well and they're not gonna waste their lives on moving topics that no one reads

    Thank you for the feedback. I will take a look at this, especially the search issue.

    Well there is a trick for the search issue, and I use this trick very often for various sites where the search engine is broken or not working properly.
    Go to google, and use this prefix "site:mmowned.com" following what you want to search for.
    e.g.

    site:mmowned.com c++

    Abra su mente a la realidad.
    Do NOT contact me about trading section stuff. Contact a section MOD instead.

    This could be easily solved just by making a subforum called Old Releases where all releases could be put, and then just move the most recent ones to the main releases section.
    uint32 = -1;
    I guess some people just find it hard to input their question into a field and press enter.

    Check out my blog here on the forums

    EMU experts and emulation community had a say how the forums were build up, not long ago... This wasnt a way they wanted it.

    we will look into this..

    Like the EMU STAFF team?? we will start whipping them

    In all honesty I dont think you are right in any of the last - however there is bound to be someone who believes the forums should be organized different - humans have different preferences you know.. But thanks for your well put suggestion, we will look at it and see what we can use and what we cant.

    In all honesty the general releases section is quite inactive. It appears huge and massive, but if you actually look at the post dates we only get ~1 new post that gets past moderation each week.

    Sub-forums would only add to this inactivity, especially since currently we do not let trivial, minor releases through.

    It's the whole debate of whether we let everything through, or keep only things that have some quality. Personally I've always liked MMOwned for the fact that it does have quality content, and is not spammed with "my first/second script!" etc. Gastricpenguin first enforced the approval system I believe, and I agree with it (don't know about other moderators) because it is what makes MMOwned different from other sites. If we changed to how you suggest, we'd be exactly the same as any other emu related site, and there would be no real reason to come here - nothing to make MMOwned unique.
