    Illegal Exploit threads not deleted.

Hey, I thought of this idea that might be good for preventing leechers / others to post exploits that are against the MMOwned rules which already have been posted. I thought that maybe if the the mods didn't delete the threads with the exploits in that were:
    something useless
    something that was completely commonsense
something that has absolutely nothing to do with world of warcraft
something that is actually a game mechanic and you think it's an exploit
, and only closing them, it would allow people to see and search for the exploit threads that have been closed and were against the rules, and they wouldn't repost it only to find out that this was against the rules.

I dunno if the search results will find closed threads as well tho? Anyway, just an idea.

nah, because then lazy leechers might just rep the person that reposted and not the original person that made up the thingy...if you get my meaning.

Wut? I think you got me wrong, or I just don't get this. My idea was only to prevent leechers to repost stuff against the rules that have already been posted and deleted. I didn't even mention rep? ;/

you just didn't get it, or maybe i didn't

Ok so this is what i think you mean. You want to make it so if someone reposts something the moderator doesn't delete the thread they just close it and leave it there so that other people come and see it's closed because it's a repost and then 'theoretically' they, themselves will learn not to repost.

If what I said above is right then.....
The lazy leechers will stumble across the closed, reposted thread, however they will read it but not actually acknowledge that the thread was a repost, and if they liked it they would just rep the person that reposted it and ignore the original person that posted it, or not do anything and not even bother to find the original post.

My point here is that, this would jib the original poster because if the reposted thread isn't deleted people will just visit the reposted thread and not the original one, meaning the person that actually obeyed the rules is jibbed of people viewing his thread, but the one that broke the rules and reposted will continue to attract people to his reposted thread that he didn't work on.......

Ah I see what you mean and agree. The repost threads should IDD be deleted, but the rest of the mentioned things should only be closed.. Edited main post! I just copy+pasted the qoute from Demonkunga's thread about deletion without really looking at it

It's against the rules therefore it is deleted.

New members should be reading the rules anyways.

I agree, but no matter what I still see tons of these common sense/useless threads in the exploit section, and I just thought it would make the amount smaller, atleast a bit. Exceptions can be made imo.

Then it will just sink and in ~30 minutes it won't even be on the page.

    That accomplished a lot.

Well when you search for it (for example you make some exploit about grounding totem, you search for grounding totem), it will come up (or will it?), and you'll see that it's closed.

A lot of leechers don't use the search function, they just post it. So it seems a bit useless to me. Although a lot of higher ranked members do search before they post.

You do realize no more than 1/20 leechers actually search before posting, right?

Most have the "I FOUND AN EXPLOIT I GOTTA POST IT!" logic.

Well maybe not ban, but make a system of 5 repost warnings then he gets a ban for a week or a day or w/e the admins decide.

This has been somewhat suggested before by Apoc, Closing these threads would completely overflow the section with useless threads, if you saw how many threads are deleted, you would think the same thing. If people are not willing to read the rules to the site and see where each thing belongs, why do you think they will look at closed threads? They won't, they just want to post to get rep. Also, the closed threads will be lost in time before you know it, so people will still do it regardless.
